Per City Managers report:
We have a lot of debris in most of the parks and the clean-up will take several weeks. Our crews are doing a great job of balancing the special activities with the storm clean-up. |

Perhaps the most important thing is what was NOT mentioned!!! What about their REGULAR DUTIES????
Is she trying to say that, between "SPECIAL ACTIVITIES" and the "storm clean-up" there is just no time left for the normal duties of the public works department???
Perhaps there is just too much effort being expended on the "special activities"???

And pray tell, what would those "special activities" be? Perhaps the people have a right to know how these "public works" people are being used. The Public Works Department consists of 3 operators, an admin, a "working" supervisor and a crew leader (plus the Director), according to the paperwork passed out at the street repair committee meetings. There is also suppose to be an Assist. Director but that slot isn't filled according to "Director Ginger". It amazed me when I received the department breakout that they would need a Director to oversee the work of 6 people. This is too much pay- too high of a position- and too overstaffed in the management ranks for 6 people. A supervisor level is needed here, not a Director's level. The whole city gov. needs to be consolidated eliminating Director's positions and combining departments with supervisor levels running them. Too top heavy as usual.

Dang vet, you got the inside scoop.
Talk about bureaucracy, Middletown looks like they have a problem in at least 1 department. Makes me wonder about other departments.
We act like a much larger city than we are. When it comes to things like Middfest, I say right on. But when it comes to things like too many bureaucrats, I say lets cut cut cut.

That little park on RT4 right before you hit Verity has some pretty big sticks laying around.
From what I know just from having my yard cleared I would guess just that one park could easily eat up 40 man hours. |
