The Middletown Cemetery Board lost one of their former Board Members

BALLARD, Mitchell age 70, passed away Friday, March 28, 2014 at his residence with family at his side. He was born November 8, 1943 in Middletown, OH to Fred and Causby (Reffitt) Ballard. He was a master machinist for Mound for 29 years, retiring in 1994. He served on the Middletown Historical Cemetery Board for 4 years. His hobbies included woodworking, golfing and working on the Ballard Family ancestry. Mitchell is survived by his children, Kelly Messerschmitt, Kris (Greg) Milligan and Douglas Ballard; grandchildren, Abbey Messerschmitt, D. J. (Franki Gibson) Messerschmitt and Emily Milligan; great-grandchildren, Aubrey, Addison and Kyliee; brother, Lowell (Cindi) Ballard; nephews, Toby (Jenny) Ballard and Todd (Becca) Ballard and niece, Jennifer Wolf. He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife of 37 years, Nancy (Combs) Ballard. The family would like to thank the staff of Hospice of the Miami Valley. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, April 1, 2014 from 11:00 to 1:00 PM at Baker-Stevens-Parramore Funeral Home. The Celebration of Life service will follow on Tuesday at 1:00 PM with Jerry Minor, officiating. Interment will be at Woodside Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of the Miami Valley, 6820 Roosevelt Blvd., Suite B, Franklin, OH 45005. Condolences may be sent to the family at www.bakerstevensparramore.

Truly sad. Glad my wife and I had a chance to meet him a few times and share his vision for the cemetery.
