I'm glad the enrollment is up however this is a far cry from the projected 3,000 students within five years for the downtown campus.

C'mon, more rose-colored embellishment from McCrabb and the Journal. Would it be that hard to just tell it like it really is for once? I noticed McCrabb left out the other details to enable one to make an educated guess as to the attraction and success rate of CS. Mentioning the original goal of 5000 in 5 years and the revision to 3000 in 5 years after seeing the slow enrollment rate would have added some validity to this article. As it is written, one can only read the one-sided way it was intended to be. Yes, it is growth, albeit at a snails pace. No, it has not been the magnanimous success as was perceived in the beginning with the lofty goals predicted.
Then again, this story does promote the activity in the downtown area (where else?) which the Journal has apparently been enlisted to do by the city. Promotion of the downtown is of paramount importance for the city's mouthpiece, the Journal. Just another PR attempt to satisfy the requirement for the Journal. And that promotion includes embellishment that borders on the realm of hiding truths, propaganda and twisted, cloudy reasoning at times. I am hoping that most who live here are not so gullible as to believe that it is as good as the city propaganda machine would have us think it is. |

I'm so proud of my hometown and what it has become. Recall 'em all. Let's start over.

On-campus enrollment is actually down from a high of 616 in 2013 to 546 this year. This is bad news for the hundreds of businesses that were projected to be needed for the thousands of students that were expected to be roaming the streets of downtown. |
