The Tytus Ave. Fire Station

   Looks like the Journal had a story today about the proposed heroin rehab program they are wanting to put in the abandoned Tytus Ave. fire station. Story tells us the surrounding neighbors are not happy about this idea either. They need to rezone it and are delayed by a lack of money. Some of the neighbors feel as if the city could care less whether they like the idea or not. Imagine that. 

Really don't need to rezone the fire station. Don't need to be concerned about money either. You can also leave the good people of Lakeside alone too. 

Perhaps they could place this heroin rehab program in the old Seniors Center downtown by the city building. No money needed as it's paid for.....again. There are some benefits to this. Since the old Seniors Center is right next door to the city building and Douggie's office and around the other side sits the police station, the convenience is there for the taking. Douggie and his buddies could see first hand how effective the effort is. It is in their downtown area, which is, and has been the primary focus for the last decade and where the majority of the taxpayer money has been used. With the heroin recovery program located downtown, it would offer a real diversity between the cultural climate being attempted down there, the college kids at CS could see first hand, the social levels broken out for them between the high cotton cultural artzy folks as they mingle with the drug rehabbers to create one happy family in the culture capital of SW Ohio. Sure, there will be those "negative naysayers" who will say, "not in our downtown" but the beauty of this situation is that we could all see the co-mingling of the high end of our city's society spectrum with the lower end to create one big happy family downtown. This in turn, would foster a welcoming feeling as they move to attract more participation in their downtown area. Isn't that what they have wanted for years now? 

You now have a use for the rebought Seniors Center. Otherwise, it sits, as it has for years, unoccupied.
