8:01 PM Wednesday, June 20, 2012 The Ohio Law Enforcement torch run will start today in Hamilton for the Hamilton and Butler counties leg of the statewide run. More than 2,000 officers from Ohio will carry the torch through 150 communities to raise money and awareness for the Special Olympics. The run is the largest year round fundraising event that benefits Special Olympics Ohio. Last year, the torch run raised more than 518,000 dollars for competing athletes throughout the state of Ohio. The torch run will pass through Hamilton for the 17th year as it makes its way to the Special Olympics opening ceremonies in Columbus, which begins Friday at Jesse Owens Memorial Stadium on the campus of Ohio State University. http://www.middletownjournal.com/news/middletown-news/officers-carrying-torch-for-special-olympics-1394225.html |
