From today's Journal.......

Krause’s exit to Fairfield big bruise to Middie pride Jan 12

By Rick McCrabb, Columnist
1:36 AM Wednesday, January 12, 2011

Krause has told his friends that he’s concerned about the financial stability of the Middletown district. In other words, when it’s time to cut staff, liaisons — even those who know X’s and O’s — are laid off before math and science teachers.

Those close to Krause say he wants to coach his son, Hunter, a student in the Lakota district. Can’t blame the man there.

So why not stay in Middletown, move his family here, and enroll his four children here?

You know, plant roots —have a football field named in his honor.

Well, there is no comparison between the Fairfield and Middletown school districts. Fairfield is rated Excellent with Distinction — the top rating — on the state’s report card, while Middletown is rated Continuous Improvement.

Fairfield graduates 96.3 percent of its students, Middletown graduates 79.1 percent.

Our school's many years of having a poor reputation and poor performance is now affecting the community outside the classroom. Another loss because the schools couldn't improve after all these years. How many other influential, contributing, quality residents have decided to move because of the poor schools in the last 30 years?

Time for a construction levy!

I hear ya Bill and Hermes! A perfect springboard for setting up the next levies. The old "Krause wouldn't have left if we had some spiffy new football facilities for him in the east end" horsemanure and the perverbial song and dance by the school people...."if you give us more money, we'll keep hope alive toward improving the academic performance of this school district" What a load of crap! They've been saying that for 20+ years and the additional money we have been giving them through levy approvals hasn't done a dam thing to improve anything except their salary levels and to create some nonsensical positions like Director of Learning or to pay Alberico to show up once in awhile to state the obvious. Mercy!!! WHY do people who vote, keep voting to sustain a horse that continually comes in last place in the race????
