So much for respect and civility with the demonstration in the meeting.
Act in the Public Interest- Reality- reword it to read "Act In the Interest of Special Factions of the Public. Comply With The Law- We found out in a statement made by AJ Smith (and backed up by Les Landen) that the city hasn't been operating within the law with respect to the outside board members being chosen to serve. The law says that, as of now, they all must be residents of the city. Conduct of the Members- See TV Middletown again to review the Laubach/Picard segment. Respect For Process- there isn't any involvement of citizens with the exception of the citizens chosen by the city to participate in said involvement. Majority has been excluded for years. Conduct of Public Meetings- See TV Middletown to review conduct. Decision Based On Merit- not sure this occurs on a regular basis. Believe that it is done occasionally. Alot of decisions based on "feelings" or "doing favors for buddies" or for personal gain perhaps. Communications- when it comes to the general populace, what communication? Indications are that communication is done with inner circle people in detail, not with "outsider citizens" Ethics- no comment 9 thru 13- no comment The Statement Of Commitment wasn't evident in the meeting the other night(or in past meetings or past councils) as it applies to certain members of Council, was it? Beside Picard and L. Williams, we also had the blindside action done to Schiavone in his mayor removal by Noah Powers and others on council at that time. We haven't had a harmonious council that got the necessary business of the city accomplished in an expedient manner in years. During the last 25-30 years, we have always had conflicts within the confines of council harmony to various degrees. It has always been more of a soap opera than a serious, professional council meeting. (see the Channel 5-Karin Johnson segment of the Laura Williams/Schiavone/Wells fiasco posted by Pac) JMO |

Rules and laws are fine and good but you realize they (being rules & laws) only apply to the lower class of citizenry.
So for council to claim they take pledges and sign pages of promise is nothing but show.
Thats like John Gotti signing a pledge to be a law abiding citizen. (yes I know the man is dead)

Mr. Nagy,
I am confused. (Of course, I get confused easily.)
Is the document in your post something that you composed and submitted to the city for their consideration???
If not, what did you mean when you said "submitted by"???
From where did the document originate???
Thank you in advance for helping me to understand this!!!

Mr. Presta,
I'm the one who caused the confusion. I was trying to take the responsibility for submitting it. I did not
compose it nor did I submit it to the city.
The document resulted as a result of a city council retreat.
It is the one that council members refer to when they say, "We signed an ethics agreement".
I wanted to show the contrast between what they created and signed and what they practice. I believe it to be a strong commentary on their real motives collectively and individually.
Thanks for the inquiry.
