Looks like the City Council is going to try and Tax & Spend its way out of this mess.  Look for 2% Income tax by March and a try for 2.25% by August.  Thrown into the mix will be an MCSD try at getting the $1.5 million that has been voted down 3 times now.

I have serious doubts about the City Council being able to Tax there way out of the current situation.  Unless they start getting the ball rolling with Economic Developement and yes they are going to have to make some sweet heart deals to attract anyone to Middletown.

If they don't get moving I would expect the State to step in, in the next 5-7 years.Ouch

Economic development is the city's only way out. Taxing is counter to economic development.

Maybe it is time for the small business owners of this city to organize and put forth an agenda that will benefit this community.  The next 4 years are shaping up to be the same as the last 4.

The Chamber and "the good old Boys Club" are doing nothing for this city.

Let's see what the new councilpeople have to say and what they do first.

We'll most likely see more of the same from Mr. Becker and Mr. Mulligan.

Hopefully not though...

Hey Bill new council members don't have to say a thing the old council did it for them and got them off the hook.  Time to say enough is enough folks.

Council is goin gto try and tax and spend their way out of this mess and you can't do it.  You drive businesses away, raher than attract them.

Bill there was no reason why this council had to rush this latest tax thru they could have left it for the New Council, although most of us know the result would be the same.
