Oh good. More federal money for an unwanted program in town. Could we get round two money stopped by reporting any first round money being misappropriated? Need to starve this program out of existence. JMO

Can Butler County send their section 8 applicants to Middeltown ? I seen where Butler County had 5,000 applications for section 8 but didn't know if they would send applicants to Middeltown to fill their vouchers. Or give them more vouchers.

Supposedly Middletown has 500 people on their waiting list.  Does Middletown ever close their waiting list like most other city's/county's do, many times for years?

HUD Housing Choice Voucher (Section 8) funds are portable.  That means, the household in receipt of a HCV certificate may choose to live in Middletown or elsewhere as there are no geographic limitations.

In reality you could have well over the 1662 Section 8 Vouchers receipients allocated to Middletown Housing living in Middletown.  There could be in excess of 2000+ section 8 vouchers in use in Middletown, since Middletown is so receptive to this type of program.  Makes you wonder.

Well given our situation with section 8 when I seen that article I had a funny feeling that Middeltown would soon be inundated with new residents.

We may never know until the census data is in and that will be a while.

I think this is a question that should be posed to current and future council members. We maybe more of a welfare city than we thought.

Let's ask Mr. Marconi on October 14th at his forum. Will we get a straight answer or will he talk around the subject? Will city people in attendance like Gilleland give us a straight answer? Less than a 50/50 chance I would think.

Look at the bright side this news should make Council and the City Admin happy as they jump for joy at anything to do with HUD FUND$$$$$$$$$$$$, eventhough it is detrimental to the city as a whole.Ouch

Funny how such a small cross section of the population can so adversly affect the whole city as it does.

1662 Section 8 Vouchers x 2.4 = 3989 citizens vs. 47000+ and.............................

or

Look at it another way 22% of Middletown's Citizens live below the Poverty level which is about 11400 vs 40600 and again the majority looses.

There are not enough jobs in Middletown to ever get this number of people out of poverty, so we should stop acting like this is a wonderful thing which Council and Admin do all of the time.

I'd be willing to say Vet you and wasteful are probably both right. They do have a tendency to like their section 8 and be evasive about it.

Hermes and Wasteful -

There's hope for much needed change in the composition of City Council members.
