According to new data released by Gallup on Friday, conservatives outnumber liberals in all 50 states--including President Obama’s home state of Illinois--even though Democrats have a significant advantage over Republicans in party identification in 30 states.

“In fact, while all 50 states are, to some degree, more conservative than liberal (with the conservative advantage ranging from 1 to 34 points), Gallup's 2009 party ID results indicate that Democrats have significant party ID advantages in 30 states and Republicans in only 4,” said an analysis of the survey results published by Gallup.

“Despite the Democratic Party's political strength-- seen in its majority representation in Congress and in state houses across the country--more Americans consider themselves conservative than liberal,” said Gallup’s analysis.

I don't really believe in the hype of conservative or liberal when it comes to politics. I think a crook is a crook regardless of his/her affiliation.
No more democrats no more republicans, vote Constitution Party !!

Simple. I'm the first year of the baby boomers, (1946) and we are just beginning to enter the 60+ era of our lives. I would expect the balance of the voting public for the next 20 years to grow more conservative as they age. It will create and sustain an age of conservatism not seen in the world of politics for decades.

Most Americans are in the middle and go one way or the other depending on the collective mood...I wouldn't put too much thinking on the results of one poll...no matter how much you wish it to be true.

Merrell- I'm the third year of the boomers (1948). Let's see- our rowdy generation had Woodstock, the protest music, going barefoot, holes in the jeans, don't trust anyone over 30, rebellion toward authority by having the long hair and doing anything and everything we could to shock authority figures with our behavior. Protesting anything and everything the government threw at us with the prime focus being the Vietnam War. Burning draft cards, refusing selective service induction, throwing rocks and bottles at the police and troops, burning ROTC buildings on college campuses, Kent State.........   Now, all of the rowdy protesting "liberal acting" boomer kids of the 60's have "calmed down" and turned into the bastion of conservatism and are "outraged" at the behavior and the attitudes displayed by those who would question the government and authority. They have become what they once hated.(All except me ,of course!- I still have a problem with some people that are in charge) What is amazing is that as much as I hated government authority at the time, when I joined their military, I did very well for myself in the military discipline and rank attained categories. Imagine that- baby boomers becoming conservative!

wasteful- you're right on the "about time" thing but I still ain't ready to stop fightin' the establishment, especially if I don't respect aspects of it. Gonna be different than some of my fellow boomers on agreeing with and going along with the
's in charge-- be it city, state or federal levels.

Nelson- thank you sir for your kind comments.
