Story in the Journal reporting that 64% of Ohio's fourth graders are not proficient in reading. Didn't break it down by school district but I would imagine Middletown is down the list in this category also.
With continuing reports like this, the public will, sooner or later, get enough of the yearly dosage of mediocre performances from Ohio's schools. I would imagine that, eventually, the pro-levy folks will start losing some of their support as we continually see these types of results and the levy results might shift in favor of accountability in the form of performance/results before rewards are given. Do you think there is a chance people will come to their senses and start rewarding success and punishing failure? Rewarding mediocrity is not logical and inhibits initiative to improve. JMO It is done but I am still astounded that people rewarded this school system with a levy passage. |
