Middletown High school has missed eight days of school this year due to the weather and has been forced to push back the graduation ceremony close to a week. State law says that a school must make up time after missing five days.
The big day was scheduled for June 2, and is now postponed till June 8th. The school is doing what they can to help those who have already printed out graduation announcements, change of date cards are ready for you to mail with your announcements.
Middletown high School Principle Dennis Newell said, "I know that this change is an inconvenience for you, but the district's commitment to the safety and well being of our students precipitated school closings for reasons out of our control and for days which we must make-up."* The High School will be mailing out notifications this week outlining the district-wide make-up days. It looks like the September wind storm is still affecting Middletown and the last week of snow was no help.
