Volunteers Needed to Teach Adults to Read |
Wednesday, January 8, 2003 12:00:00 AM - Middletown Ohio |
Many adults in the Middletown area do not have the basic reading skills to fill out forms, read road signs, help a child with homework or enjoy a magazine or newspaper. Volunteer tutors are needed to help adults learn to read. Free training and materials are offered through the Middletown City School District’s Community Education Department.
Eight hours of training are provided before tutors are assigned a student. Once trained, tutors set their own schedule to meet with their student for 2 or 3 hours each week.
