Famous Cuban painter Luis Eliades and around 21 students put the final touches on a mural that is on the back side of the Flowers by Roger building in downtown Middletown. The mural memorializes one of his paintings of Oshun, the Cuban goddess of love. Brandon Johnson a teacher at the Art Central Foundation helped by sketching fruits, flowers, and snails on the back of the building.
Luis Eliades is in Middletown as part of an international cultural exchange program ReART Cincinnati-Baracoa 2013. Six artists from Cuba and six artists from the Cincinnati area have created art that is to be exchanged with the other artists, who then add their own cultural symbols and themes to the work.
