There is much to do this summer and all year long in Middletown, Ohio. Situated just off I-75/Exit 32 midway between Dayton and Cincinnati, events are easy to reach and lots of fun. There is something for every taste.
-
Sample the downtown arts district on the First Friday of each month – Pendleton Arts Center, Middletown Art Center, Beauverre Riordan Stained Glass and the many individual shops and restaurants. It’s a casual and upbeat evening.
-
Join the gang at the Broad Street Bash every other Wednesday evening for free music.
-
Festivals are full of food, fun and action: Multicultural Arts Festival, Fenwick Festival, Ohio Challenge Hot Air Balloon Festival, Greek Festival, the Work Stinks Skydive Boogie and Middfest International are popular.
-
Youth lacrosse, soccer, football and baseball tournaments are held on the fine sports fields in Middletown. High school, col-lege and adult recreational sports are very popular – golf at Weatherwax, Frisbee golf, tennis, etc. are all alive and thriving.
-
For those who like individual sports, try Pickleball. Middletown hosts a senior Pickleball Tourney each August.
-
Darts are popular in area bars and some of the best players are in Middletown.
-
An under-the-radar game is Geocaching – a treasure hunt of sorts for the GPS crowd. People traveling by on I-75 often get off to search for a Geo-cache to take a trinket, leave a trinket and sign the log. (Go on line at geocaching.com for more info)
-
Parades on Memorial Day, Independence Day and the Saturday after Thanksgiving add excitement to the seasons.
-
Tandem Skydive with the pros at Middletown Regional Airport, hike the trails at Bulls Run Arboretum or venture out on the bike path for miles of river-side scenery.
-
Middletown Symphony, the SW Ohio Symphonic Band, Miami University’s Artist and Lecture Series and many other presentations make Middletown the place to be.
