Middletown Branch of AAUW and MidPointe Library Middletown hosting voter registration drive September 17

Middletown, OH – (September 10, 2012) - This Constitution Day, prepare yourself to participate in a rite of citizenship by registering to vote.  The Middletown Branch of American Association of University Women and MidPointe Library Middletown are co-sponsoring a voter registration drive on Monday, September 17 from 3:00 -7:00 PM in the front of the library.

“As U.S. citizens, we have the right and responsibility to vote in local, state and national elections,” says AAUW-Middletown President and event organizer Anita Shew. “We are so lucky to have the freedom to elect our officials and vote on various community issues.”

The registration form is brief, but identification is required and there are eligibility limits.  Registrants must be 18 years old by November 6, a U.S. citizen, a resident of Ohio at least 30 days before the election and not incarcerated for a felony.  Forms of ID include a driver’s license, social security number, military ID and government check.

Volunteers from the Middletown Branch of AAUW will be available to assist in completing the form.  Visit the Ohio Secretary of State website or the Butler County Board of Election website for a complete list of possible ID documents and other information.

Already registered to vote?  Use the forms available at this event to update your registration information if you have changed your address or name, or take a form home to a family member who hasn’t registered yet.

The MidPointe Library Middletown is located at 125 South Broad Street in downtown Middletown.  For more information about this event call the Library at (513)424-1251 or visit MidPointeLibrary.org.
