Questions For Candidates Running for Middletown City Council
Thursday, July 2, 2009 10:07:51 AM - Middletown Ohio
Middletown Ctiy Council Election
By: Randy Lewis

Although the city council elections are a few months away the citizens already have questions for those seeking office. We here at MiddletownUSA are doing what we can to help get some of those questions answered. Over the last few days we have spoken to a few candidates from the second ward and they have agreed to answer a few questions for us.

Those answerers will be coming soon. But in the mean time we thought it would be a good idea to give any person running for city office this November the opportunity to respond to the questions we posed to the second ward candidates.

If you are running for office and are interested please answer the questions below and get them back to us. Your answers will be posted on our MiddletownUSA home page and on our MiddletownUSA blog.

You can email your response to us directly at  rlewis@xponex.com or mail them to us at Xopnex, 6730 Roosevelt Ave. Franklin Oh, 45005

If you have any questions please feel free to call us at 513-422-1907 ext.357

1. Tell us a little about yourself and what qualifies you to represent your  ward?

2.  Where would you like to see the city in the next few years?

3.  What is your plan to replace the businesses that the Middletown has lost?

4. .How would you begin to repair and strengthen our relationships with the surrounding communities?

5. What would you like to see happen with the downtown area?

6. What are your thoughts on Middletown's Section 8 situation and what would you like to see happen?

7. Tell us how you would handle the city's budget concerns?

8. In your opinion, what is the biggest problem that needs addressed in Middletown and how do we repair it?

Randy - Could we add the question asking if the candidate was recruited by Middletown Moving Forward/Moving Middletown Forward? This piece of information would be telling in why and how the candidate is running...

I would like to add the question about their party affiliation. Who is backing Obama and his massive spending program and who isn't!

That's an insight to how that candidate feels about spending by government.

I'd like to know what impact they have had on their community up to this point. Serving on boards and committees aside. Did they just wake up one morning and decided they wanted to run for council or we're they recruted? If so, by whom? Will they provide their own $'s to run or are they courting big $ from local business owners?
