On 1-27-13 at 0022 hrs. Middletown police officers received information that a Ford Focus had been stolen from Pierson Automotive and was parked on Elwood St.  Officers watched the car for a few minutes then saw David Michael Howard of Middletown enter the car and drive away.  A traffic stop was attempted at Shafor St. and Miami Ave. and the vehicle fled.  A short pursuit ensued and the driver was apprehended near University Blvd. and Manchester Rd.  Howard had stolen the keys earlier in the day and came back and stole the vehicle after Pierson closed. He stole license plates from a nearby car that he had placed on the Focus.

David Howard was charged with grand theft, receiving stolen property, driving under suspension, eluding, and traffic charges.  He is currently in the Middletown City Jail.
