Kroger Grand Opening was on a warm and windy Thurday. The parking lot was nearly full at 8:30 am.

Kroger is one of the nations largest grocery chains and is headquartered in Cincinnati, Ohio.

Despite the full lot, no other store openings have been officially announced in the otherwise completely vacant shopping center.

Jubilee?
The opening of one Monroe grocery store most likely will have a dramatic effect on another. Relatively new, the Jubilee grocery store, will likely see a loss of revenue due to the larger Kroger grocery store. Jubilee came to the city when no one else wanted to build a grocery store. The IGA store had closed its doors and left Monroe, grocery-store-less for years.
