Trenton Historical Society will be having a benefit dance to raise funds for the Trenton Museum. In recent years the Historical Society's memberships have dropped to around 15 from 65, which put the museum into financial difficulties. It costs around $2,000 annually for the museum to keep its doors open. Skip Weaver from the Middletown Journal interviewed Wanda Woodrey, a board member, who said: “We have lost a few of our members who were truly instrumental in the museum, but they have left us with a legacy to carry on. They put a lot of passion into this place and we want to continue to enjoy what we have here and allow future generations to enjoy it, too.”
The Historical Society opened the museum in 1971. It contains items like fire and police equipment, clothing from important citizens, the city’s very first stop light, and even a time capsule from 1966 to be opened on the town’s 200th anniversary!
The Christmas dance benefit will be held on Saturday, December, 15th from 7pm till 11pm at Parish Hall Holy Name Catholic Church, 222 Hamilton Ave. in Trenton. Entertainment provided by Finale-The Quartet. Tickets to benefit the museum will be sold at the door for $10 per person or $15 per couple. To purchase tickets in advance, please call 513-988-0282.
