You may have noticed the Grand Opening Banner flying in the wind quite a lot lately in downtown Middletown. Recently, there has been a grand opening of the Mockingbird Café in the Pendleton Art Center, and today there will be two more grand openings at 5pm. The Barber Shop on Vail and the Arts Central Foundation will celebrate their grand openings. It’s an exciting time in the area, soon there will be seven restaurants located downtown!

At the Music Club

Music club is proud to present Heather Roush. Heather Roush, country music singer, will perform live in person on November 2! Music starts at 9:00pm and goes until 11:00pm. There will be a $5 door fee. Reservations are now being accepted at (513) 424-2259. The Music Club can be found at 1015 Central Avenue.

At The Pendleton Art Center

The next two months at the Pendleton Art Center will feature five visual artists who will be exhibiting original art perfect for holiday giving. For November, Sarah Roof will have a new group of acrylic paintings; Libby Birch will be showing small watercolors; Gin Conforti will be bringing new oil paintings; Jean Ann Bolliger will feature some of her “creatures," and Katherine Lawson will return to Artique2 with her contemporary weavings.

Stop in on the First Friday of November and meet the artists. Artique2 is also open Tuesday-Saturday for the rest of the month for your holiday shopping convenience, just check with Sue Wittman in studio #101 for access!

The Pendleton Art Center’s musical entertainment for November will feature guitarist David Simpson.

At the First United Methodist Church

The First Friday Concert & Exhibit Series happens every First Friday at noon. The visual artist for this month is Trey Pitts with his series of watercolor paintings. The musical entertainment will be a Latin ensemble.

At BeauVerre on the Square

Art Avenue Custom Framing will have two featured artists for November's First Friday and 2nd Look Saturday. From 5 to 9pm on Friday you're invited to stop in and visit with Deborah Thinnes and browse her impressive collection of original watercolors. Featured in her paintings are local landmark buildings and private homes as well as historic local barns. Then on Saturday from 10am to 2pm Art Avenue Custom Framing welcomes back Garnett Marie Arnold. Garnett will be cutting free-hand scissors silhouettes while you wait. These beautiful keepsakes make unique and thoughtful gifts for the holidays. Affordable custom mat and framing packages will also be available.

At the Art Central Foundation

This month the Art Central Foundation is pleased to partner with the Middletown Community Center to update two of the Community Center's existing youth rooms. The ACF will be presenting the Thanksgiving Break Workshop during local students' school break (November 23-25) to complete this exciting project. Thirty-six youth from Middletown and surrounding communities will be coming together to work with local artist Brandon Johnston and two local art teachers. Together, these artists will give the rooms new life through colorful paint and design!

One of the Art Central Foundation's original exhibits will return on First Friday with the premiere of “Street Warz,” photography exhibit. Street Warz encourages everyone to participate regardless of experience or age. The entrants take pictures of the street on which they live. The ACF challenges you to find something beautiful, interesting or unique in your community & document it! A great way to show pride in your neighborhood! The work will be installed in the storefronts on the south side of Central Avenue between Verity and Broad and can be viewed 24/7!

At 4 N Main the Pop-Up Boutique will return for First Friday (5-9pm) and Second Look Saturday (11am-3pm). Theresa Rivers will have a fabulous collection of vintage clothing & housewares for sale. If you are looking for something unique for someone special this holiday season, the Pop-Up Boutique should be on your shopping list!
