Cincinnati State Technical and Community College will open a new campus in downtown Middletown on Aug. 29, with the start of its Fall Semester.
The campus is located at 1 North Main Street, in the former Cincinnati Gas & Electric Building. Students will have access to more than 200 free parking spaces in a surface lot adjoining the building.
Initially, Cincinnati State plans to offer 13 associate degree programs and five certificate programs at the Middletown campus. These offerings will be expanded as demand increases, and will include health care programming once the necessary approvals have been secured from state and accrediting bodies.
Cincinnati State’s Workforce Development Center, which offers continuing education and specialized employer-oriented workforce training, will also offer programming at the Middletown campus in the near future.

The courses offered at the Middletown campus – as at the main campus in the Cincinnati suburb of Clifton – will be a mixture of traditional classroom instruction, online classes and a blend of the two typically referred to as “hybrid” classes.
Cincinnati State hosts Information Sessions at the Middletown City Building in Council Chambers (1 Donham Place, Middletown, OH 45042) on the first and third Wednesdays of each month at 9 a.m. and 6:30 p.m.
Prospective Middletown Campus students can also gather information – as well as complete the enrollment process in one step – at Cincinnati State’s “Fast Track” sessions, held every Saturday from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on the third floor of the Middletown City Building. Those interested in completing the process in one day should arrive by 11 a.m. to allow time to take the placement test, meet with a financial aid advisor and complete other steps. (In addition to a high school transcript or GED, individuals should bring their federal tax returns; those age 24 or under should also bring parental tax returns.)
Four separate scholarship programs are available specifically for students at the Middletown campus:
-
Perry Thatcher Scholarship. This is an endowed scholarship made possible by the family of the late Perry Thatcher, a Middletown philanthropist whose real estate holdings paved the way for the new Cincinnati State campus in downtown Middletown.
-
Success Partners Grants. Cincinnati State, along with Higher Education Partners, will set aside up to $150,000 to establish a tuition grant program for the 2012-13 academic year for residents of Butler, Warren, Montgomery and Preble counties to close any gaps left for students with financial need after “regular” financial aid is applied.
-
Middletown Community Foundation Presidential Scholarship Fund. This is an endowed scholarship fund, established by (and controlled by) the Middletown Community Foundation in connection with the inauguration of Dr. O’dell M. Owens in 2011.
-
Miriam G. Knoll Charitable Foundation Scholarships. The Knoll Foundation will support two scholarships, one each for a male and female student from the Middletown area who demonstrates financial need.
