A two-man play, “Nixon’s Nixon”, is being presented by a
local theater group. City Law Director
Les Landon is to portray Henry Kissinger.
(Some might say that it would be less of a stretch for him to portray
Nixon.) I present, for your consideration, an excerpt from the
Middletown Journal story on that play: “What I think the play is really
about is what happens when people are faced with the idea of giving up the
power they have,” said Landen. “And how difficult that is and how it impacts
the way people will behave.” Life imitating art…or
art imitating life??? You make the call. (You can read the entire story by clicking here: http://www.middletownjournal.com/news/middletown-news/satire-nixons-nixon-on-stage-1344697.html ) |

“Mulligan said he ... doesn’t believe they necessarily make the return on investment necessary to keep funding them.” …The Middletown Journal, January 30, 2012

It would be nice to see people in this city government experience the shame, humiliation and public vilification that the Nixon administration did. Then Landen wouldn't have to play the role in some skit, but rather, experience it first-hand.
His comment concerning people losing power is appropriate and ironic, given the fact that he and others are in the power chair, at least for now and are acting the part. It would be justice for the people for him, Mulligan, Gilleland, the MMF'ers and others to experience a "stripping of power". We need a catalyst like Watergate to bring this city government down. Some bit of information that would infuriate even the most apathetic person in this town. |
