IMESHO Dr. Acton (and the Gov. who is living vicariously through her at this point) is in a position of having TOO much power - and we the people have given it freely - and now she's freely taking all of our freedoms.

Just at the point where the testing and occurrence rates are skyrocketing and the death rate is plummeting - we just locked down the world.

We get on this forum and gripe over and over about our politicians here and their ineptitude - maybe the larger problem is that our local politicians inspire to be THESE PEOPLE!

So now it is shelter in place to stop a virus.  A virus that we know will end up infecting nearly everyone is probably going to still infect everyone.  The healthcare system is going to be overrun because the panic has everyone believing that every cough means they have the virus.  Overreaction is the problem.  On every end.

I watch down my street as all the kids who are supposed to be in school right now sharing the virus with one another....run around playing football, basketball and soccer and such SHARING THE VIRUS WITH ONE ANOTHER!

I'd love to join in on the hysteria - but folks - count me out.  If I get the virus - I get the virus.  If I'm sick - I stay home.  Yes, the elderly are more at risk, and we should be very careful what we do with them and how we interact.  The youngest of the population too.  However, at what point do we all have enough of the crazy and get on living life.

If there's one fear I have in the middle of all this - what happens next winter when the flu starts going around again?  Do we shut down the entire world economy and hold ourselves hostage in our homes every time someone gets a sniffle in China?

Talk about your slippery slopes...this is the slipperiest.  Whatever happened to every American having the right to the pursuit of their own happiness?

I'm gonna have to start drinking or doing drugs or something - I can't stand to ever be locked in my house....I'm an American and I thank God everyday for the freedoms that USED to be granted to me.

Understand your frustration. Also see the Governor's side of things and his decisions so far. Was at Meijers the other day and stood in line before they opened at 8AM. The new store hour announcement came as a sign on the door as you walked up thinking they were still a 24/7 operation. As I was waiting for the doors to open, a Meijers employee told everyone in line to stand 6 ft apart. The line did as she asked but I was somewhat annoyed that an employee was "directing traffic" as if she had some legal authority to do so. They were holding the line up by wiping every cart handle with disinfectant wipes. All headed, of course, to the toilet paper aisle which was picked over in minutes. Just seems to me to be a dose of paranoia to some extent. DeWine is closing down everything at midnight tonight except groceries, pharmacies, trash collection and mail, ie, all non-essential services. I understand the theory of having people stay to themselves to reduce passing the virus. Can also understand one's frustration about being confined to your home as well. My son and I were more inclined to stay at home before this all happened so this isn't too great of change for us. As time has gone by, we just thought there were too many crazies out there to be bothered with. Society, in general, has taken a hit as to any common sense or proper behavior at times in our opinion. We just try and stay away from any situation where we might deal with this element of society.

This too, shall pass and we will look back on this and talk about it as history learned, just like 911 or the other virus scares we have had in the past.

As is usually the case, time passing will lessen the impact of a bad situation.

Congratulations Ohio - you're in STATE CONTROLLED QUARANTINE for another month!

Your Governor and her Heiress Dr. Acton have decided UNILATERALLY that we must all suffer in our homes for yet another month. 6 foot spread?  Seriously?  If the virus lives for 3-4 days after being expelled - we should have a 3-4 DAY SPREAD - meaning we should all just go shoot ourselves and put ourselves out of misery.  IF EVERYTHING THEY SAY IS TRUE - YOU WILL GET THIS AT SOME POINT - THERE'S NO METHOD OF ESCAPE (apart from a vaccine).

So - the Governor thinks this is great...

Great for the economy?  No.
Great for the people's physical health? No.
Great for the people's mental health? No.
Great for the unemployment lines? No.
Great for the markets? No.
Great for anyone? The answer is NO!

You might say, "but, Bob, why you said it wasn't good for the people's health! That flies in the face of everything the GOVERNMENT BUREAUCRATS are putting in front of us!"

Yep.  Take a good hard long look at the faces of everyone in the bureaucracy as they are talking about all these government controls....look at their faces.  Look at them in the B-roll footage as they walk down hallway and are caught coming and going....this is a SOCIALISTS DREAM!

I'm listening right now to the idiots in Columbus as they give their daily briefing.  We have hundreds of thousands of new employees who have just been put out of work - and guess what...the guy trumpeting that also then trumpets that many businesses have had a lack of available people to support their operations so it will be good for them.

Does he not realize that HE AND HEIRESS ACTON SHUT DOWN ALL THOSE BUSINESSES?!??!?!??!?!?

14 states still have no quarantine orders and they're doing just as fine or just as bad (however to put things into perspective go check out the latest CDC numbers for the entire state of deaths by type which is 2017) and look - yes - it's a communicable disease and it will kill some people.  But then again - so does everything!

Life kills.  In fact, the moment we are all born we begin the slow process of dying.  Some live 100 years and die in their sleep from sheer exhaustion.  Some die before they reach 6 weeks of age due to SIDS.  Some die in car accidents.  Some die from cancer.  Some die from heart disease.

Her HEIRESS is now making a public spectacle of her order!  Can you believe this?  This is a power trip - I'll get to that in a minute.

We all will die.  IF coronavirus doesn't kill us - something else will. Social distancing? IF it really works - wouldn't it cure ALL communicable disease?  Instead - even with social distancing - the curve hasn't yet flattened!

SO - were the initial predictions wrong?  What about all the new predictions??!?! Government has never been wrong...right?

As people's paychecks run out - as the bread lines will form - as the people go crazy sitting in their homes over this and as the GLOBAL economy collapses - when will we have enough of this?  When will we stand up for what is our freedoms?

Is it fair to make the government employees who pass out welfare have to deal with the general public while this MASS HYSTERIA  goes on?

But I'll digress.  This is nothing more than a power trip.  Many people, when given authority, salivate over actually getting to USE that power from the moment they get it.  In this case - this kind of snatch and grab of our freedoms is simply a trial run.  A trial-run to see how much we the people will put up with when they REALLY come after our freedoms.

Mark my words - right now every socialist in the country and communists around the world are LOVING this.  They're watching as the mighty United States of America is brought to its knees by its bureaucrats alone.  And mark my words...they're noting that we are taking it lying down.

Think about this - if the coronavirus hadn't hit hard and large in other countries - would we have even noticed this virus to date?  I doubt it.  Look at the numbers.  It wouldn't at this point even raise an eyebrow. Yes there's a larger number in giant cities where people live on top of each other like rats in cages - but that's always the case with any communicable disease, virus, common cold or otherwise.

This is all being enveloped in 'it's good for everyone' - but the state just instituted a 'resolution board' that is going to SHUT DOWN any business they think isn't worthy of being open - and their decision was JUST TOUTED AS FINAL WITH NO WAY OF APPEAL.

WAKE UP OHIO!  WAKE UP AMERICA!  WAKE UP EVERYONE!

Go live your lives - tell Gov. DeWine to stop the madness and let us get back to work.

He's forcing mass layoffs - then asking people to manufacture things needed.  My HEAD IS ABOUT TO EXPLODE!  He and his cadre of 'leaders' can't see the irony of their own decisions.

ARGH!

Her Heiress was just asked a great question about when we can go back to normal....

She can't answer the question.  It's never yet occurred to her that we'd ever go back to being a free people.

Her answer is that we don't know - and she doesn't even know how we can make that decision.

Good luck people, she just said until it all stops it can't be undone - this is the beginning of the end.

Bob, I understand your frustration. You are a working man and are eager to return to work while having the burden of worrying about your income and family. I am in a different position right now. I am retired and get paid once a month and don't really worry about where my next paycheck is coming from. I do work part time for my old employer on call at Wright-Patterson. I don't rely on an employer's paycheck. This part time money is spending money to purchase extra odds and ends for my son and I when needed. I don't necessarily depend on the part time money but it is nice to have at times.

Since we are in different situations, as it pertains to the virus shutdown and isolation in society, you are obviously going to feel more pressure than I will. I can't offer any suggestions to eliminate your frustrations but I can throw empathy your way.

None of us know how long this will last. Neither the politicians nor the medical professionals can tell us either. The only choice we have is to wait it out and see what develops down the road for all of us. Right now, IMO, your highest responsibility is to your family and to yourself to stay healthy through isolation and suggested hygiene practices. You and your family matter most to you at this time. You will return to work when it happens. You have notified your creditors at this time of your situation and that let's them know you intend to pay when you have the money coming in again. They must understand as they are not interested in taking your house or anyone else's at this time. Same with the car payment. They don't want your car and understand the situation and are willing to wait until the payments start rolling in again. All your creditors know this is beyond your fault. They can't call in their debts knowing the massive number of people that are in your situation. That's all I got buddhalite. Suggest trying to relax a bit and enjoy your family time. After all, in normal times, and knowing how much time work takes from your day, this appears to be a great time to enjoy some closeness with the family....your most important asset. JMO

Bob, it looks like you might get your wish in early May. DeWine is thinking of opening back up after May 1st. Hope so but if he does, and it works, he'll be a hero. If people start getting reinfected and hospitalized, and people start dying again, he will be the villain. Heck of a decision for him to make. Still, IMO, he has handled this virus event very well. Common sense, slow steady approach as I see it. Glad I voted for him at this point.

Very interesting.

The only thing that will make me happy is an immediate reopening of the economy.

Where's the virus at it's worst?  Where all viruses are at their worst...wherever people live on top of each other as in nursing homes, high-rise apartment buildings and apartment complexes, etc....where people breathe each others exhalations all day.

That's not Ohio (at least not for the most part) NYC is the hot spot - but read that last paragraph and you'll understand why.

here's the thing - It's a VIRUS.  If you don't get it - you will - and for many it is nothing more than having the flu - and until we all get exposed to it it WILL NOT STOP!  Truly, the best thing we can do is - get back to life - and the sooner the better.

How long can we keep everyone holed up in their homes?  Eventually you either gotta be exposed to it or get a vaccination - that's the only way to stop it.

So - we can all wait forever - or we can all get back to work and what happens...happens.  Heart disease kills millions more than this virus ever will and we don't all stop the world over it.  I know the virus is communicable - but no matter how long you stay in your home...there comes a day you have to get out and get back to work - and then you're gonna catch it anyway.

I just don't believe that all this social distancing crap worked in any way.  We've shut down the world's powerhouse economy - and for fear that people might catch something they're going to catch anyway - and we've destroyed lives in the process.

It's not the economy vs. lives....it's lives vs. lives.  (All props to El Rushbo for that last sentence.)  We're destroying lives - the virus is taking lives (although when it's all said and done the common every year flu will kill more people this year than coronavirus will....) it is ridiculous that we've taken such draconian steps to simply slow down the spread.

Some great businesses will not weather the storm.  They'll be lucky to sell their assets and not go bankrupt.  Many will see bankruptcy court as its only option.  22 Million out of work.  Look at the numbers.

I'm all about caution.  Wear a mask if you need to and get on with life, everybody.  Get on with life.

Ahhh....I just wondered how long the Tyrant DeWine would sit around without wielding his sword of totalitarianism.

Today's stupidity is that we are no longer living in a free state.  We now live in a facist state where the Tyrant's Thugs (that phrase I hereby copyright and trademark) are going to be on foot watching, looking and listening...Orwell be damned...and FORCING people, places and businesses to ENFORCE his worthless, illegal and unconstitutional order!

He kinda sounds like Wretched Gretchen in Michigan now...could it be that he's truly the RINO we all thought he was - and now that he's in great glee over Trump (it's not over 'til it's over) and his apparent demise and Biden's promise to shut everything down again....that he's feeling his oats?

My friends, it's time to stand up.  If you own a business - now's the time to refuse to follow this dictator and his minions. When you're accosted about 'compliance' just stand your ground.  Don't back down to DeWine's Goons.

You might say....but Bob, Bob, Bob,,,,why the science says...

The science doesn't actually say anything, for the record.  Take a quick listen to your 'authorities'.....they say one thing only...."we all know *picking up a mask for effect* that these things work...."

NO WE DON'T - and not only that there is absolutely ZERO conclusive science on that.  The same masks that people wear for sanding drywall - and from the residual dust on your face after wearing one - you'll know they don't stop ANYTHING!  T-shirt fabric? Can't stop the smell of your armpits - let alone a virus. FWIW - the holes that make these fabircs breathable...all of them are larger than the viral molecules of SaRS-CoVid-2..meaning they are as worthless as Breasts on a bull.  Okay - that's an overused phrase - how about as useless as an accordion player on a deer hunt. Didn't resonate?  Okay - how about useless as an inflatable dartboard.  I could do this all day...

Oh yeah - the bleeding hearts are now talking smack and virtue signaling about how 'my mask protects you - your mask protects me' - well, I call shenanigans!  If that's the case - me wearing a bulletproof vest should protect you...and frankly that's just not the case.

Oh yeah, and then there's the fact that people under 70 have a survival rate of well over 99% and those older or with pre-existing conditions are well over 97%, and according to some just shy of 99%, that simply put says we shouldn't be stupid and go around licking doorknobs - but for the love of GOD - go be with your family.

There's few things on earth that are as precious as your family. From a young age I have been struck about how each year for thanksgiving - the table has never been the same.  Some have passed, some have been born, some have entered the family from other sources, but from year to year you just don't know.  GO!  GO! GO celebrate and give thanks to God for his unspeakable gift - and enjoy the fellowship and frivolity with your family...it may be your last chance!  Don't just follow an unhinged dictator - do what is right, what is justified...what is called for on the occasion.

Stand up and speak out and hold your ground, Ohio.  Maybe it's time to start talking deposing the dictator, just to prove a point. I know he's up for reelection in 2022 - maybe we need to cut him off at the knees.

I'm not changing my life. I'm an American. Born Free. Born in to a Constitutional Republic (not a DEMOCRACY!) and we are all supposed to have the GOD GIVEN freedom to pursue our own happiness - whatever that is - without government interference.

Oh yeah - my health practitioner agrees with the whole mask thing - we even had a nice long talk the other day sans masks...even that person (who should know) agrees that we're pushing something in the name of science - that has no basis in science.

Anyway - thanks for reading my rambling...my friends - don't stop living your life over this...don't be stupid...but don't stop living life.  Life is too precious to waste all sequestered in the four walls of your home.
