Ok...fairly easy to track the scenario here.

1. The city bought the building from the Thatcher estate for use by Cincy State

2. Cincy State said they didn't want this building.

3. The city had no buyer in sight for this building until this person came along and wanted to purchase it.

4. Douggie Adkins says no.

5. Why did Douggie say no? Perhaps the person wanting to purchase the building didn't fit the "profile" of who they want in their downtown? After all, they have very good instincts for success. Perhaps the potential buyer/restorer stated his intended purpose for the building's use and it didn't fit the "theme" for the downtown? Perhaps the city has a user in the pipeline and we haven't heard as yet who it is? Perhaps Gilleland The Giveaway Queen has her eye on who she wants to donate it to? Perhaps Adkins and crew want to demolish the building and create another green space at the corner. Lord knows they like to destroy landmarks and eliminate history here and we certainly could use one more green space here in town. Not enough open range for sure.Perhaps Mayor Lawrence Mulligan and his supervisor, mom, coupled with the honorable Martin Kohler of the South Main St. Kohlers, and the rest of those "special attention" people down on S. Main, didn't approve of the intent to purchase, which makes subordinate Adkins' "NO" automatic. Perhaps they're just so dam stupid down at the city building nowadays they can't recognize a good opportunity if it jumped up and bit them in the face. We just don't know why he refused this potential buyer.
