The free market is beating a path to the AK Steel Door. A healthy steel mill and lower transportation costs are motivating factors for steel support and value add steel companies to move operations here.
The Middletown area is again being seen as a land of opportunity thanks to it's steel mill. AK Steel has once again become an economic growth driving force in the area. Since the addition of SunCoke, AK Steel is proving with action that they are here, they are building more infrastructure and they intend to dig in and stay for a long, long time. Middletown is a steel town and now there is an insurgence of steel related industry moving to the area. With products such as carbon, stainless, electric, and antimicrobial steels AK steel provides an incentive for manufacturers and steel vars to locate near their mills. Companies such as Pilot Chemical, NCI Metal Coaters, Metal Matic and Thompson Steel are investing and adding employees to their Middletown facilities. According to Chelsey Levingston of the Journal, 239 new employees will be added to steel related industry in Middletown. Perhaps there is a spark of light on the economic future of Middletown and surrounding communities. I sure hope so. Let the invisible hand move the market to Middletown, Ohio. |
