Middletown Girl To Appear On 'Dog Whisperer'

   MIDDLETOWN, Ohio -- Volunteering at an animal shelter isn't always glamorous, but it landed a local 10-year-old on a hit television show.

Rachel Heidtman is known as "the dog whisperer" for her ability to communicate with dogs.

"They don't speak with words, so the only way they can speak is with their energy and their body language," she said.

The Miller Ridge Elementary fifth-grader has found the kind of interest in dogs that others her age might find in studying the guitar or other pursuits.

But Cesar Millan, known as television's "Dog Whisperer," is a rock star to Rachel.
