So, once again our terrible city image is spread all over the media and the country. No wonder we can't get businesses and jobs here any longer.
Whose fault is that? Well, its my opinion that it starts at the feet of our big city leaders who throw the big money out to sway the elections in their favor for their pet projects, so that they can make more money. You big city leaders need to resign yourselves to the fact that , like all city corruptions, yours is coming to an end. Oh, it may take a little more time but its coming. Why, don't you act smart and instead of manipulating city council, administration and tax payer money just in your interests, change our city image now for the good so that we have appeal to the new entrepreneurs and young adults who want to advance their society. Let's start creating a new image for Middletown that opens the door to a new city that people believe has integrity and opportunity.
How can that be done swiftly and effectively? Since we have an obvious four/three split on council get rid of those obvious four who everyone knows do nothing but your bidding. Its also obvious that the three are attempting to do what is right and best for the citizenry. Give them a helping hand as they are trying so hard to do "the right things", instead of fighting them. It might surprise us all what they might accomplish for the city.
Replace the City Manager, the City Planning Director and the City Law Director. Not even the gang of four can work with them. In my opinion and that of many others they are obviously bought and cater to their special interests (most of which have been directed by you). Just think about it. We now have four attorneys involved. Two on City Council and two with the Administration. Dan Picard, Tom Allen, Les Landen and Doug Adkins. What has been the sum total of their effect on our city's image? Its been negative at best.
Our finances are a joke. Our Financial Department and our financial oversight committee have city finances in such a complicated mess that we are the laughingstock of criticism from our surrounding neighbors. That adds to our negative image. That is a result of your direction regarding our finances. How about changing that so the money quits coming through the back door into your special interests and let it start coming through the front door for the benefit of you and everyone in the city. Just think what that would do for changing our image and showing sincerity.
There is very little doubt that most of the blame lays at your feet for our horrible public image that keeps businesses and jobs out of our city. You're pulling the strings and we all know it. Please say, "enough" and lets start changing that image and let Channel five and You Tube know that we have a new Middletown. Then, watch the busineses and jobs start flowing back to Middletown and watch us become a vibrant and prosperous city again with you and all of our citizens making money again.
If not, be careful of the weight around the neck of the albatross. The resentment is growing and soon it will become so big that not even all of you together will be able to stop it.

Thumbs up to:
Middletownusa for being the strong peoples voice in Middletown. It is the only voice of democracy in the city.
TVMiddletown for carrying those hours of council meetings and other interest features of Middletown.
Thumbs down to:
The Middletown Journal for not reporting the news as they should.

Good post Paul !
I think it's beyond time to find someone with enough information to get the state auditor in here and investigate the finances of this city. We all know that city hall has been playing games with our tax money as well as with fed money, money that suddenly vanishes, money that suddenly reappears, money that we all feel is being misspent. Getting someone to come forward would no doubt be a difficult task unfortunately.
Does anyone know what type of contract Gilleland has with the city or what her contract pertains ?

Hermes and Paul, Please see the post I just put on Mr. picard you.... Hermes, I have enough information to take down most of the higher-ups in the city building. If we could petition the attorney general to prosecute under the RICO act, maybe we could get some people that have destroyed our city a little jail time. The group in Belle, Cal. were rookies at corruption and playing the old shell game with money, compared to those in our city building.

I can't believe you would delayed a post of mine because you thought it was negative toward contributors yo this site but allow this crap to be posted and stay. These people should be required to support their statements with facts or they should be deleted. |

Just a few facts for you:
A few years ago the city was caught recording conversations between inmates in our jail and their attorneys. This information was used to prosecute and convict in our courts. How much did the city pay to settle these many lawsuits? We don't know because that goes to executive session! Do you think that this act was legal and ethical.
For about 20 years (1987-2007) the city received about 4 million dollars per year in the Auto & Gas Fund. This fund is from the state and can only be used for street repair, traffic lights(the ones on the streets, not at the airport) and grounds(the shoulders and medians of our streets, not all of our parks and the airport). During this time the city did not even repair one pothole. Do you think that theft in office and misappropriation of funds is legal and ethical.
The city put in red light cameras for "income enhancement" and set the yellow light timing below state minimums. This created an entrapment of legal drivers. Our police dept. also sent out citations to people that got stopped and had not run the red lights(I have the pictures and citations to prove it). They must have thought that most people would pay $100 even if they were innocent, rather than take a day off work.
For about thirty-five years we have been paying into a sewer separation fund. It started as a ten year, $75 million. This fund without any increases should be over $200 million now. Since the sewer bills were always increased by a percentage the total should really be about $600 million. Recently the city manager was saying that the citizens would have to pay for the EPA mandate to separate the sewers because there was no money separate them.
This is just the tip of the iceberg of what goes on in our city building(and a few reasons for our well deserved image and reputation). I have reams of papers to prove the criminal conduct in our city building, and it will happily be revealed in the court system(not in the local kangaroo court or on this forum. No use giving our crooks help to defend themselves.

Apparently Mr. Nagy and Mr. Kidd "truly believe" what they say enough to put their good names on the line!!!
Do you, "Mtown", "truly believe the statements above border on slander" enough to put YOUR name to that accusation???
Perhaps YOU, "Mtown", are the one who should either put up your true identity (as these two men have done) or YOU should "SHUT UP!"

Nice picture. i like pictures of bridges and clouds. I get curious of where each side of the bridge takes people. I wonder whether the storm clouds are coming or going. What makes this picture so interesting is does it make people want to go some where and be contributing to their destination or just exist there without any contribution? Are the people there happy and at peace? Yep, its a good picture. I wish I had taken it.

Addendum: I'd like to think that the woman in the reflection of his left eye was asked to take his picture. Afterwards they went to a nice Italian restaurant and had dinner and then fell in love. Then, they drove to Middletown, Ohio and lived here happilly ever after. He became a leader in the community, was elected to Council and led the city into its best and most productive years. They never drove over that bridge again because they were so happy in Middletown. Soon they had a baby that they named Neil. He was coo coo for Cocoa Puffs. She became an artist at the Pendelton Art Center and painted a picture that thousands of people came from far and wide to see. Downtown was over run with happy Middletonians. People filled the restaurants and bought so many pieces of art that all of the artists made lots of money which they reinvested in the city and Middletown became the art colony of southwest Ohio. Thanks Tudor for the picture.
