Middietown used to be filled with wonderful live music, from the campus to the hotel to a thriving bar scene.
It has all pretty much dried up until now, with an exception being the Broad Street Bash.
Look forward to a wonderful new series beginning at Finkleman Auditorium on the MU-M campus.
On Oct.13, 87yo Doc Watson brings his legendary singing and playing to town. Inspiration to millions, and a talent to behold.
In November, Trombone Shorty will absolutely rock the foundation with his upscale modern version of New Orleans jazz.
Tickets are already on sale and moving well.
On January 23,2011 Chris Thile and his band the Punch Brothers arrive.
Probably the most talented group of young progressive acoustic string players that I have ever heard.
Look for one or two later shows to develop featuring the hottest acts in the country.
Middletown will rise to a new level of coolness with this series, and we will be back on the map of area musical happenings in a big way. Take a shot, and support these shows and this series. I doubt that you will be disappointed.
