We are creating a plan for
council to consider for the 2010 budget. For the July Finance
Committee meeting, we will have the outline of the plan, probably with
a couple of options. Staff all agrees that we need to make strategic
reductions rather than limp along year after year.

BUDGET CUTS MUST BE MADE BY SENIOR CITY STAFF & CITY COUNCIL!!
NO MORE HUD-FUNDED BUDGETARY "SHELL GAMES" BY OUR CITY LEADERS!!
I recently learned of a Ward 2 senior citizen homeowner who received one of the 2,300 housing code violation "love letters" sent by the Community Revitalization Department. It seemed that their home needed some front porch painting.
Yesterday night I received an update on this matter. It seems that a Diversity Specialist for the City became involved and helped arrange for a painting crew to take care of this matter (and more) at no cost to them. Even more interesting is the fact that the Chief Building Official and the Electrical Inspector personally supervised the work performed this week according to this homeowner.
Last year this homeowner received HUD-funded assistance in replacing the roof on their home plus the installation of a new HVAC system and some other repairs. None of the three above City staff were involved for that work.

Mr. Self: Suffice to say, what Doug Adkins and the city did with the letters that they were not concerned with previously, was simply create a mechanism to support their grants. In other words, they started abusing the citizens in spite of the outrageous behavior of city leadership associated with making attempts to take care of their own backyard, to start hassling citizens that they never did previously, so they could then seek every dime possible with HUD and stimulus funds, using the letters and harassment (and allegations paint was peeling, the fence is ready to fall down), to tee up bringing in those funds.
That of course, explains why in all the years past, the city did nothing, but then the mass effort comes to fruition when HUD $$$ on the table. Just another example of city abuse on its citizens to make a play on every dime they can get---probably to put funds under the shell of the rainy day fund. I also find it odd Martin has every listing downtown. I'm sure the city goal is to demolish those buildings in due time, and then try to start over, the brownfield becomes greenfield. Then, we have city development staff out in force taking pictures with Lt. Gov Fisher. Apparently, all the development team does, just like Bill Murphy, was jump on the backwagon on someone else's work years before, and attempt to take credit, and use minimal benefit to the community as a sign progress is being made (CheckPax). Just imagine how out of control city leadership would be as they exhibit these actions presently, if they could do away with the ward system and put on council their chosen bidding partners. Talk about having a free pass! Its bad enough how they use the sub-committees presently to do their bidding, imagine how it would work if the positions are their hand chosen candidates! Then, the 300 residents they care about today, instead of 51,000, becomes the Top 100. |
