I arrived home from a late flight and read with humor, the city of Middletown is paying AKS $ Mm's to keep from leaving its innovation site. Of course, they really don't want to pay for their employee re-location package, although West Chester would have been attractive.
I recall Krogers used to have their fire sale for perished items they desperately wanted to sale the same day before they spoiled, their Managers Special marking. About 6 months ago, they changed it it to Wahoo. So when yoiu see Wahoo, it means, hey sucker, buy the product for 50% off because it is going to spoil by the time you get home, or we have to throw it away and lose money.
Council had a Wahoo vote with AKS. Thank God they gave away only a few $ Mm. It could have been worse, when Nix, and others were members, it was north of $ 5 Mm to have MRH not completely load the wagon and move out of town.
Wahoo council, AKS did not completely leave. What marvelous work this council has done. No traction, just spinning in deep, deep mud. Interest rates on 30 yr now at 3.85. Time to load the wagon like the others, and head for 75, but for the resident, city council isn't providing the Wahoo sticker for you.
Wonder what FORBES thinks about city desperation with giving Wahoo's with limited tangible benefit. Its sinking.

$2 million to buy 16 acres of land near Interstate 75 for the city’s largest employer, AK Steel, to build a new $36 million research and innovation center. The land deal is Middletown’s largest since the city borrowed $5.65 million for the Atrium Medical Center project in 2003. City officials said deals like this have not been their usual course of business, but this is no ordinary project either. “We saw this as a strategic incentive,” said City Finance Director Michelle Greis. “We view this as a top priority for Middletown because it retains jobs in Middletown and supports long-term growth.”
