MIDDLETOWN DIVISION OF POLICE

Aug. 5

About $10,000 worth of wiring was stolen from the job site at the new Tractor Supply Center, 4601 Roosevelt Blvd. Local scrap companies were contacted and told to watch out for the wiring.

A T-shirt, valued at $17.29, was stolen by a juvenile at CVS Pharmacy, 661 N. University Blvd. The store turned over a copy of the surveillance footage to police.

A red masonry brick damaged a vehicle that was parked in the 1000 block of Garden Avenue. Police didn’t locate a house that had brick that matched the one found in the car.

A .38 special Smith & Wesson was stolen from a residence in the 3500 block of Vannest Avenue. The gun was purchased at Richie’s Pawn Shop for $400.

A woman accidentally left her purse on her shopping cart at Walmart, 2900 Towne Blvd., and when she returned, it was gone. The purse contained a GPS and Samsung Galaxy S3.

A woman who lives in the 3900 block of Riverview Avenue told police that her neighbors threw firecrackers into her yard and scared her dog. When questioned by police, the men said they were trying to knock down a wasp nest up in a tree.

I think they are going to close up before they open. Besides they are probably taking the wiring out of state to sell.

10 grand in one swoop? Time to hire a security guard to man the building when the construction folks leave until they return in the morning. Considering the amount of thefts in this town, read in the police briefs, I would think alot of businesses that don't stay open 24/7 would have either a security system in place or hire a guard......especially with construction supplies laying around.

I'm so proud of my hometown and what it has become. Recall 'em all. Let's start over.
