I do hope you all watch the rerun of last night’s council meeting.
During council members comments, Josh Laubach, chairman of the
the finance subcommittee, stated that if everything remains the same at City Hall we will be upside down and broke by 2016.
He also spoke about our Moody downgrade because of our debt load.
Thumbs Up Thumbs Up

The spending spree on “Their Downtown” must stop.

I'm so proud of my hometown and what it has become. Recall 'em all. Let's start over.

Time for the city to tell their downtown friends that enough has been done, the gravy train is over, there is no more money to throw around. No one can blame them for lack of trying.

Next step would be to prepare for hard negotiations with police/fire about not only wages but long term pension obligations, whenever the current contract is up. I don't care what "other communities do" -- THIS community needs to trim somewhere. And when the union thugs show up at the council meetings I would wave bye bye and say have a nice day.

Correct stanky
There is no one left to bleed
Revenue is not keeping up with expenses anywhere
Most pension plans are seriously under-funded everywhere-particularly in the public sector.
All fixes for all things are incredibly expensive

But when you mention these realities, you are viewed as negative and a downer.
Maybe I have been a private sector business owner for too long, and there are far too few of us little guys left.
The system is so far out of whack IMO, that you can't get anyone in authority to even talk sensibly about it any more.
Just look at Council, senate, congress and the Obama administration + what they have up-coming in the next few weeks....

Hey--at least we have Art and the Bash!

Be careful what you ask for.  Even if you are a millionaire ten times over, the Historic Commission Nazis would have you bankrupt in a heartbeat (unless you are one of their own, in which case you could do whatever you wanted).

Mr.Saunders I can assure you I'm not one of them.I much rather be there worst night mare.Smile
I have racked my brain trying to figure out why give a building away then give money to "Stabilize" it?
Shouldn't  It be,We want this much for the property then the buyer would say,it needs work done on it so the buyer gives a lower price?

LMAO
Mr. Coon's stated that he usually works on much larger projects.
He informed city council that they needed more residential housing in the downtown area, needed people walking their dogs at 10 at night and 6 in the morning.
Hmmm...larger, larger...how about a building about the size of the Manchester Inn
Think I need to dust off my crystal ball and take a peek into the future of Middletown.
Yep there is Mr. Coon standing on top of the historic Manchester Inn.

Well hell,Ms Vivian can you look at that crystal ball again and see if your mistaken that its me instead of Mr.Coon standing on top of the Manchester? I would gladly take the Manchester off the cities hand if they give me 300k to "Stabilize" it. My plan would bring what are city leaders want, more people downtown.Smile I'd even take the building behind it,(City building) but I'd have to have another 300k to have it fumigated. LOL
