Journal story- Monday- Grandparents in Middletown/Butler County raising their grandchildren on an increasing rate.We already know that it has been going on for years, but when you are reminded of it, it re-ignites the anger. Lady from Middletown says she's on a fixed income and can't afford it, but is doing it anyway. Reasons given are incarceration, substance abuse or the parents "JUST DON'T WANT TO DO IT". WHAT!!! THEN WHAT THE HECK DID THEY HAVE THE KIDS FOR? Don't they have enough intelligence to assess their situation? No common sense or logic and completely irresponsible human beings who will sponge off the taxpayer for the rest of their lives. Kind of makes a case for sterilization, doesn't it? They'll learn nothing as long as mom and dad are taking up the slack for their stupidity.

I was totally surprised that the State of Ohio actually pays grandparents for raising their grandchildren. What happened to the Mother and Father let them pay for the raising of their own children rather than the Public having to do it. This is ridicules.

You must balance love with responsibility. Parents loved their children so much, they forgot to make them responsible. Other parents ignored their children and didn't consider making them responsible.
Either way, grandma and grandpa are the only one's who care. Thank God for caring grandparents.
When will we learn?

At the risk of pating this picture with a broad brush: I would think if the kids, now the missing parents, were raised right to begin with that fewer grandparnets would find themselves in this situation.
