1. If you think your Party has been taken over by Far-Left Progressives, and beyond, then it’s TIME FOR A SWITCH! (Reagan did!)
2. If your moderate views are not being heard by those who have closed their ears, but they’re still wanting you to open your wallets, then it’s TIME FOR A SWITCH!
3. If you were fooled and tricked by empty promises, fancy language, and catchy slogans repeated so many times that you actually believed them, then it’s TIME FOR A SWITCH!
4. If all the “Change” you have left in your pockets are Abe Lincolns, then it’s TIME FOR A SWITCH!
5. If your vote is taken for granted because of your race and/or gender, then it’s TIME FOR A SWITCH!
6. If you think America is being forced, slowly but surely and in the dark of night, into the proven failure of Socialism/Communism, then it’s TIME FOR A SWITCH!
7. If you’re afraid of losing your 2nd Amendment right to protect your home, family, and yourself, then it’s TIME FOR A SWITCH!
8. If you’re tired of those who normalize and moralize immorality, then it’s TIME FOR A SWITCH!

What happens if the party you support exhibits all of these things and the other party offers nothing that is better? To what party would I switch? Listening to alot of people nowadays, they seem to indicate they are frustrated because they are disatisfied with BOTH parties and they won't waste their vote on a "Green Party/third party" candidate knowing they don't have a prayers chance of winning. Voting for the "lesser of the two evils" is getting real old.

So where does one go to seek a group of people who has a desire to do the right things by the people? Dunno. Political righteousness doesn't exist..... doubtful any of us will see it in our lifetime. Both parties are disgusting in their respective areas and neither have the majority of the people's best interest at heart as each caters to their chosen targets. JMO

I look at it like driving a car when I start going too far to the left I turn the wheel back to the right to compensate and if it goes too far to the right then I nudge it left (but just a little) in the case of these last four years the car has crossed the double white line into oncoming traffic, went off the left side of the road and now its headed off the cliff.Time to lock up the brakes and steer to the right as hard as I can to get the car back in the proper lane as it should be.

Bocephus,

I hate to tell you this but Obama would be a moderate Republican if there were such a thing anymore. Ask a real progressive, Obama isn't one!!! It's just ridiculous to listen to all this garbage about him being progressive when it just isn't so. Of course, the GOP makes almost any politician look progressive; i.e. Ronald Reagan. The Gipper couldn't even get nominated in the GOP now!!!

THE LEFT                                                      THE RIGHT

Ultra          Moderate      Independent    Moderate             Ultra
The late
T.Kennedy                             Me                        R. Limb
                                                                Coulter

Ultras Lefts want to give away the store to the "unfortunate" who have a habit of abusing what is given to them. Ultras help contribute to lazy worthless people in society with their giveaways. Obama is developing a habit of wanting to help the minorities and ignoring the majorities. Wants to give rights like health care and free educations to illegals and that ticks me off. Doesn't understand the concept that if you haven't entered the country the right way, you shouldn't have any rights. If deported and you re-enter illegally again, you should give up your opportunity to be a citizen of this country. To gain legal status, men AND woman should be made to serve in the armed forces. No freebies Obama.

Ultra Rights only acknowledge the rich and want to give tax breaks to corporations and rich company owners HOPING that they will re-invest their tax break savings in job creation. Does anyone really check to see that they do that? I doubt it. Just another break for the wealthy while the middle class struggles from paycheck to paycheck. Coulter.....Limbaugh.....I won't tell you what I think of them. This forum does have limits on language. Pompous little as---.

Hopefully, the moderates in both parties will balance it all out somehow.

In the meantime, we middle-class folks just suck it up and try to survive while both ends of the political stick play with our lives.

Public lynchings for all politicians at all levels looks better all the time.

TonyB,

I think Obama in his heart is about as far left as you can go (at least on domestic issues) but he is constrained by the realities of the position and by Congress. So he fights certain fights and gives up on others. In his mind we should all be riding on solar powered trains, performing "green" jobs, paying slavery reparations, guaranteeing free housing, food and medical care for all, and on and on.

Do people really think that after all these years, they are going to repeal the 2nd ammendment?  With all the weapons on the street, how long, how much man power would it take to remove every single gun/weapon from the citizens?
With all the people that know how to make/modify guns, this would be an impossible task.  Nothing more than an Republican scare tactic.
But hey, I don't need a fully automatic rifle to hunt either.
But if you need 600 rounds to defend your home from that guy breaking in, maybe you shouldn't be shooting any way.  God forbid one of those rounds go through your house and into your neighbor's and hurt someone in there.
"If the only "change" you have left in your pockets is Abe Lincolns-  Maybe you should get a new job.  Maybe should have gotten an education/learned to think (Republicans and Democrats).

Not sure where Mitt is going to pull 12,000,000 jobs out of.   I remember an article that there are 80,000 jobs here in Ohio that have gone unfilled because applicants cannot pass a drug test or background check.  Maybe something should be done about these requirements.

Not only are physicals an issue,  the owner of the last recruiting company would not let me submit applicants based on their age.  If the considered them "old" (late 40's and older)  he wouldn't even consider.

I argued with him about this being illegal all the time.  He told me when I become the owner, I can submit them.

Many companies will not hire women with very young children (under 6 years) because they miss so much work

Viv, this is where an applicant should brush up on some interviewing tips beforehand. They should be ready for questions about family, children, etc. Questions like "is there anything that would prevent you from attending work regularly?" The applicant should be ready to deflect questions that are too personal (are you married? do you have kids?) with answers like "I will not let any outside factors get in the way of this position".

Stanky: personal questions such as that (are you married, do you have children, etc.) are illegal.  The interviewer cannot ask questions where the answers will indicate age, marital status, sexual orientation, etc.  chmoore

chmoore, I understand that but it doesn't mean those questions aren't asked. Sometimes they are less obvious and are phrased like my example above.

Your business owner is breaking the law. Needs to be reported. (sadly, might not do any good if he was reported)

Now, with that said, I'd like to tell you, that the 1974 age discrimination law posted in just about every workplace means little to nothing when it is actually challenged.

In 1994, while working for the Lords of Cincinnati....P&G, two over-50's male employees were chosen for "extermination" via the downsizing routine. They were selected out of a group of 24 younger technicians to lose their jobs. Both were Vietnam vets and both showed up for work each day, did what they were told to do and never had any disciplinary actions in their files. After they walked out the door for the last time at P&G, one with over 20 years of service and one with 10 years, one of them contacted the number on the poster from the law developed in 1974. The Chicago office rep responded to the broken law by telling the caller that they would "make note of the infraction and ASK P&G about it next time there was a visit from their office". Nothing ever surfaced from the employee reporting there had been a violation of the workplace law on age discrimination and the Act of 1974-Vietnam era vets development. Surprise surprise!!! End result. The Workplace Act of 1974, posted in just about every workplace is worthless and not worth the cardboard it is printed on. It is against the law to age discriminate, but it is done everyday by some company, somewhere......and when reported, the authorites turn a blind eye to the situation. The lawyers told one of them to take the buyout package and leave. Could challege P&G in court, maybe win, but by the time the legal fees were paid and P&G appeals were settled, there would be no money left for the downsized employee. P&G could tie it up in court for a long time if they chose, they have a money to do so. The employers have it figured out. They know the fired employee has little money to fight them. They know they will take the money and leave.

He doesn't have any of the "required" E.O.E signs posted.   My understanding is that businesses are required to have signs from the Department of Labor.  My knowledge in this area is very limited, so I could be wrong.  I have thought about reporting several times.  Passed on several good candidates just because of age.

rngrmed, check with attorneys that specialize in this. I believe Jim Langendorf on University Blvd handles labor law questions.

Stanky,

I don't know where you get your information but I have a suspicion it's simply created in your head!!! Show me anyplace where you can find information that Obama wants to pay slave reparations. That's bulls***!!! As for the free food, housing and medical care, show me where he advocated that anyone should get these things for nothing!!! You talk a lot of crap but never provide the backup to your fantasies. I was also unaware of your mind reading abilities. "In his mind" is such a garbage phrase because you don't know what's in someone's mind so stop pretending you do and stop using it as justification for things that you don't know about!

Bocephus,

OH!!! You sure showed me with your "Yea, Right!" post. What's the matter, couldn't find a true progressive to ask? Obama only seems liberal to those on the extreme right. To most anyone else, he's a moderate. Once again, instead of assuming, go ask someone who is a progressive and they will tell you the truth. That might go against your preconceived notion of Obama but it will definitely enlighten you to what progressives think of Obama!!!

Tony--what is progressive about stimulus $$ wasted, and adding trillions to national debt?
GW started it, however the Pres snowballed it downhill with no measurable success.
Telling business owners that govt. built their businesses and is responsible for their success is nonsense.
Actually, it is the exact opposite. Private business success has made possible government expenditures.

Obama is all show--he has never stopped campaigning, and has never really provided leadership.
His foreign policies are non-existent, and have confused our allies(left in the cold) and emboldened our adversaries.

That being said--I don't think much of Romney either.
I do like Ryan, and expect him to have Biden for lunch in their debates.
Still--the media will continue to spin in the hard-core liberal direction, cvontrary to their real purpose for being..

Health care?
I am not sure
As a citizen and employer, I am getting screwed currently, and wonder if maybe the Pres's plan
might be an improvement for me.

I dread the uglnyess coming in the next two months of campaigning.
Obama is dirty and hiding behind his PACs
I don't think that Romney has begun yet, and expect him to hit full-force soon after this week's convention.

Can't either side explain their plans and positions positively with substance?
Give us something to actually believe in and support!
Quit blaming GW for the Wall St mess that Clinton covered up by concealing the fraud behind the phony gains. GW walking in to a collapsing situation, yet he only made it worse. Obama has continued the downward spiral exponentially, hiding behind his media-supported smokescreen.

jmo

we are screwed either way, thoiugh I will hold my nose, and once again vote for a "change" in leadership.

Could Paul Ryan be a crazy loose cannon who will say anything and lie about anything in order to achieve an end?

http://www.newsday.com/opinion/viewsday-1.3683911/filler-marathon-runners-don-t-forget-their-time-what-was-paul-ryan-thinking-1.3946386

"Ryan told a radio host last week he ran that marathon, the only one he’s ever run, in “under three (hours), high twos. I had a two hour and fifty-something.”

He actually completed it in just over four hours.

For you non-runners out there, he was describing an athletic feat that would be, while not world class, pretty elite. We’re talking more than 26 miles at a sub-seven minute per mile pace. Few casual runners can run more than one or two miles at that clip."

Ryan comes off as genteel and calming and most middle class people will buy that he's solid and dependable. Looks can be deceiving.

Like the Spider, I will also "hold my nose" when voting this time. As I've said before, don't like Obama's sponsorship of illegals and the rights they are reported to enjoy under his leadership. Don't like his minority push either. Have doubts about the Obama Care thing and don't like all the bail-out packages either. Simply don't know enough about Romney as yet to give him my vote. Seems vague in his message so far. Gonna have to ramp up the specifics to tell me what he is all about before November. Ryan? Need to know more about him too. At 63, I'm very interested in the future of Social Security and Medicare as I approach my chosen age to retire- 70. There is talk that Ryan wants to change things. I'm not going to be a happy camper if that happens. Will have paid into it for 51 years at age 70. Don't screw with what I put in. Ryan will need to clarify what he wants to do. Comes across like Josh Mandel......a kid with a squeeky voice. Are they of age to run for office? Just kidding.

Don't worry Vet, Ryan's plan (like most out there) to deal with the entitlement programs does not involve cuts for those already over 55 or so. Nope, fear not. Even though your generation has run this country into the ditch by living high on the hog, giving out pork for votes, and favored consumerism over retirement savings, any remedies for our nation's problems will fall on the back of those under 50. What about the concept of shared sacrifice?

SJ,

There was very little "progressive" in the 2009 stimulus. More than half of that was in the form of tax cuts to "small business"; you know, the "job creators". Yeah, the usual waste, fraud and government handout went along with it, too. This whole bulls*** about who created their business shows me which news organization you watch. No where and at no time did the president say that business owners didn't create their own business. What he said was that without the roads, bridges, electrical infrastructure, an educated work force, building a 21st century business would be impossible. No one lives in a vacuum. The very reason humans dominate the planet is our ability to work together and share information. In a consumer based economy, it is the customer who creates the business, i.e. a need to fill.
As for foreign policy, ask Osama bin Laden or Mummar Khadafi what they think of Obama's foreign policy. Oh, that's right, you can't 'cause their dead!!! We're out of Iraq, getting out of Afghanistan, and removed the dictator of Libya without losing a single person!!! Romney wants to go back into Iraq, stay in Afghanistan and start an immediate war with Iran!!! That seems to be quite a contrast in foreign policy.

Vet,
One thing caught my eye that I had to question. The idea that this whole economic problem started with Clinton. When Clinton left office, there was no annual budget deficit and the country's debt was decreasing. Tax cuts for the rich and two wars took care of that along with the Medicare pharmacy giveaway. Where Clinton screwed up was in revoking the banking regulations that eventually caused the banks to act like casinos and gambled pensions and mortgages which they lost. That is what needs restored is the division between "banking" and "investment" companies.

Not proud of some of the things my generation has done just as, I would imagine, the generation before us had their issues. Each generation leaves problems for the next. Not exclusive to the baby boomers. Agree, we like our toys. Motorcycles, classic cars (have two myself) a nice house....very materialistic/status leaning generation. Ironically, the boomers started out protesting big government and detesting anything the government did and authority of any kind. Today, most of those same protesters of the 60's have become what they once hated.....conservative, engaged in politics, greedy, selfish, trusting of government......they have BECOME the government.....and it ain't very pretty. Some of the boomers (me) still detest government, still don't want big brother in our business, still hate authority we don't respect......but I understand your disdain for the boomers. We were (are) greedy little people aren't we. Your generation will have it's fair share of bad apples too. You will be labeled also. Just need to wait for it.

As to the subject of entitlement. Through payroll deductions for over 43 years now, I have had Social Sec. taken out to take care of the people who have already retired. When it is my turn at 70, shouldn't I be given the same priveledge? I will have paid into it every week for 51 years. Just recouping some of the money that was involuntarily taken from me, right? Anything wrong with that?
