Legends of Rock returns today

Staff Report
12:26 PM Monday, June 4, 2012

MIDDLETOWN — After a successful 2011, the Legends of Rock concert series returns tonight.

Legends of Rock features tribute bands of legendary performers. It runs during the off weeks of the Broad Street Bash in downtown Middletown.

Beginning at 5:30 p.m. at Governor’s Square, tribute bands Slow Hand (Eric Clapton) and Retrovention (The Doors) will perform the first Legends of Rock concert of the 2012 season.

Admission is free, and there will also be food and beverage vendors.

I thought that the "Legends of Rock" series occurred on Wednesdays, alternating with the highly successful Broad Street Bash.  Has this changed??

Hey, this is "good news"! Now, the Journal will have to print a correction and the Legends of Rock series will get even more publicity!!! Just make sure that you get the dates right, this time, proofreader!!!

I just figured it was another case of the MJ printing info on events after it was too late to actualy enjoy them. They need to rename the Middletown Journal to Middletown Urinal that would be more fitting.Any one miss the days when Middletown actualy had a real newspaper instaed of this piece of garbage.

While we are on the subject of journalistic accuracy, this story could use some help.

Dayton Daily News....(and Middletown Journal)

First female four-star general leads Air Force Materiel Command

FAIRBORN, Ohio —
The Miami Valley's largest employer has a new boss, and she made history when she took over leadership of the Air Force Materiel Command on Tuesday.

Lt Gen. Janet C. Wolfenbarger, a graduate of Beavercreek High School, took over as commander of Air Force Materiel Command, the largest unit at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base. In doing so, Wolfenbarger became the first female four-star general in the Air Force.

Two standing ovations for Wolfenbarger interrupted today's ceremonies at the national museum of the United States Air Force. The chief of staff of the Air Force was in town to promote her barrier breaking achievement ... and to assign her to commander of the 20,000-strong AFMC unit at the base.

Wolfenbarger acknowledge the history made and talked about her experience with AFMC and her local connections, growing up and working in the area.

Wolfenbarger, 53, said in previous interviews her high school years in Beavercreek and her 18 years at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base gave her a strong foundation for advancement.

Wolfenbarger succeeds the retiring Gen. Donald Hoffman. The nine-base command oversees Air Force acquisition, logistics, research and development, including support and sustainment of major aircraft and weapons programs.

LAST TIME I LOOKED, A LT. GEN WAS 3 STARS WITH THE GENERAL BEING 4 STARS. BEEN THAT WAY FOR A LONG TIME, I BELIEVE. CURRENTLY, SHE HAS TAKEN OVER COMMAND AS A THREE STAR, NOT "FIRST FEMALE FOUR STAR GENERAL LEADS MATERIEL COMMAND" AS REPORTED. NOT THAT BIG A DEAL.......UNLESS YOU ARE IN THE BUSINESS OF REPORTING ACCURATELY AS A NEWSPAPER SHOULD BE.
