1970's era arts center lobby gets facelift

MIDDLETOWN —The Middletown Arts Center is used to having paint on its walls, but this time the paint comes in entire coats.

That’s because the lobby of the center at 130 N. Verity Parkway has been undergoing renovations, and this is the lobby’s first face-lift since the building opened in the mid-1970s, said Executive Director Patt Belisle.

Future projects will include the center’s kitchen and library, classrooms and administrative offices. The timing of the project worked out well because classes haven’t been in session, Minor said.

ISN'T THIS BUILDING PART OF THE CINCY STATE DEAL? WASN'T THERE TALK OF CINCY STATE MAKING THIS BUILDING PART OF THEIR CAMPUS? DIDN'T KNOW THE ARTS WERE STILL HERE. THOUGHT THE ARTS ALL WENT OVER TO THE PAC AND THIS WAS EMPTY FOR C.S.??? WHO IS FURNISHING THIS MONEY FOR THE REMODELING/PAINTING/LABOR. IF CITY MONEY, WHY ARE WE RE-DOING A BUILDING THAT WILL BECOME C.S. PROPERTY?

Thanks Midd 29. I appreciate you too. Oh, while we're on the subject of accuracy, you forgot the t in Viet. It was a war in SE Asia in case you didn't know. In the meantime, thank you for the clarification Vivian. Just wondering why we have both the PAC and this facility when Middletown isn't exactly overflowing with arts interest.

Vet- MAC which if you haven't been to is a great learning center and pretty much holds it's own, they have a garden tour and several other events which earns them some money so they can support themselves.  Lots of activities for childern and a great volunteer staff.  They have been on the front line of the turn over of downtown and I give them alot of credit for sticken it out.
I knew when I started posting on this site opinions would vary and at the same time there was a understanding that it was Ok to disagree.  Many of the posts I see are questions tied in with a opinion. Free speech, Theres know such thing as a dumb question and some folks may have thier FACTS a little backwards, BIG deal.  Sometimes with that Free speech comes a lack of Manners which I'm quite use to and had hoped to avoid on this site.  Sure do miss VOR at least you could be wrong and you didn't have to be told to shut up.

Ground Swat,
,       Thank you for your post. It is right on the mark with every point. It is very disturbing when posters make insulting personal remarks about each other. Many don't realize you can disagree strongly on the issues without getting personal. When people get personal it takes away from the credibility of the whole forum.
