So, once again our terrible city image is spread all over the media and the country. No wonder we can't get businesses and jobs here any longer.
Whose fault is that? Well, its my opinion that it starts at the feet of our big city leaders who throw the big money out to sway the elections in their favor for their pet projects, so that they can make more money. You big city leaders need to resign yourselves to the fact that , like all city corruptions, yours is coming to an end. Oh, it may take a little more time but its coming. Why, don't you act smart and instead of manipulating city council, administration and tax payer money just in your interests, change our city image now for the good so that we have appeal to the new entrepreneurs and young adults who want to advance their society. Let's start creating a new image for Middletown that opens the door to a new city that people believe has integrity and opportunity.
How can that be done swiftly and effectively? Since we have an obvious four/three split on council get rid of those obvious four who everyone knows do nothing but your bidding. Its also obvious that the three are attempting to do what is right and best for the citizenry. Give them a helping hand as they are trying so hard to do "the right things", instead of fighting them. It might surprise us all what they might accomplish for the city.
Replace the City Manager, the City Planning Director and the City Law Director. Not even the gang of four can work with them. In my opinion and that of many others they are obviously bought and cater to their special interests (most of which have been directed by you). Just think about it. We now have four attorneys involved. Two on City Council and two with the Administration. Dan Picard, Tom Allen, Les Landen and Doug Adkins. What has been the sum total of their effect on our city's image? Its been negative at best.
Our finances are a joke. Our Financial Department and our financial oversight committee have city finances in such a complicated mess that we are the laughingstock of criticism from our surrounding neighbors. That adds to our negative image. That is a result of your direction regarding our finances. How about changing that so the money quits coming through the back door into your special interests and let it start coming through the front door for the benefit of you and everyone in the city. Just think what that would do for changing our image and showing sincerity.
There is very little doubt that most of the blame lays at your feet for our horrible public image that keeps businesses and jobs out of our city. You're pulling the strings and we all know it. Please say, "enough" and lets start changing that image and let Channel five and You Tube know that we have a new Middletown. Then, watch the busineses and jobs start flowing back to Middletown and watch us become a vibrant and prosperous city again with you and all of our citizens making money again.
If not, be careful of the weight around the neck of the albatross. The resentment is growing and soon it will become so big that not even all of you together will be able to stop it.
