I started out watching and listening with mouth agape at the discussion about the Living Word Church assessment waiver request, but as the discussion continued I actually became encouraged!!!

Ms. Scott-Jones’ analysis of the request for assessment relief on behalf of the property owned by the Church near Towne Boulevard was very interesting. One might even speculate that this property was very much more likely to “spur economic activity and growth” than PAC-M is likely to.

Obviously, the entire council was AGAINST breaks for economic activity. This became especially clear as phrases such as “fiduciary duty to the taxpayers”, “pie in the sky” and “no business proposal” were bandied about.

It seemed almost certain that at least THREE “NO” votes were in the offing for the Pendleton question.

Later, one is then left to wonder why the same strict fiduciary standards were not being applied to both the Living Word and the Pendleton deals.

Phrases such as “fiduciary duty”, “pie in the sky” and “no business proposal” being used as a NEGATIVE and in favor of the taxpayers in one case, and simply ignored in the other were especially astonishing!!!

Hey vet and Mike--I am with you all of the way.
If you want me to blow smoke up your butts and tell you how great you were Tues, then I can do that.

We were going to lose that battle anyway.
The dark side pulled out a lot of specialists from the world of OPM

Best thing going for us seems to be this Verdin guy.
I liked his approach and thinking.
He visioned an opportunity and made it work. Hope he can pull it off here.

Still the guy has a lot of cash, and we should have recieved a lot more for what was given up.
Weird that so many "smart people" celebrated this public theft like it was a lottery win.
I guess they are hoping to piggyback profits at public expense.

Naw spider- no smoke up the butt for me, thanks. Had enough smoke blown up the keester working for P&G, IP and others in the old corporate world that did alot of the smoke up the butt thing. Had enough after 40+ years.

I'm just happy to be here, enjoying my hometown and the manner in which it is being run.

Spider,
I would try to answer to answer your post if only I could figure out what you were trying to say, or frankly, what your post here remotely had to do with anything I mentioned anywhere in this new thread.

Perhaps the type of smoke you are blowing here is illegal???  LOL LOL LOL

You might keep in mind that your business is not their type of business.  However, when they come after you, I'll try to stay out of it. (They're going after more of your neighbors right now. How long until YOU are next?)

I thought that you were smart enough to know that if I wanted insincere praise, I'd be on THEIR side!

Just a guy trying my best to do what I believe is right.  Go right ahead trying to find my "hidden agenda".  It's an endless search.

Have a nice day!  Smile

It seems to me that what happened with Verdin is exactly what always happens with the middle class wanna-be's that pushed this through. The ones I mentioned in another post the other day. Verdin is an Indian Hill guy. That's where he lives. This little middle class clique in Middletown would sell their mothers down the river to be able to name drop Verdin & Indian Hill in their social activities. I don't blame Verdin for going along with it. When you find a sucker, let them suck away!

my remarks pretty much fit the topic heading Mike

I was only interested in the Verdin heist and the historical thing(which I haven't seen yet--I hear that Ms.Scott Jones and Mr.Laubaugh stood tall for everyone on that one).

I honestly didn't praise you for anything, though I appreciate your concern and attention to the facts/figures/procedures. I wish that you had been at your best the other night.
"Hidden agenda"? You lose me there.

My business interests don't really depend on the city for anything. Only public choice.
If the public sticks with me and trusts me--then I win.
My time has probably come and gone,
It has been a great run, and I am very appreciative to everyone who has supported me for my entire life.
Without my customers and co-workers, I have nothing.

"Just a guy trying my best to do what I believe is right" pretty much applies to me also.
Depends on whom you might ask, though.

You can skip the "Have a nice day" petty crap though.
