It's tomorrow???
SHUCKS!!! I can't make it, and I REALLY, REALLY wanted to go!!!
I wanted to go to Ms. Scott-Jones's too, and couldn't.
Usually, my schedule is very, very flexible, and I was looking forward to both of these events.
I do hope that the hosts do not mis-construe my absence as a lack of interest.

I heard the meeting was a site to see. I am sorry I missed it, I did hear that the section 8 topic became a little heated. I would like to say in defense of one landlord that was in attendance last night (Mr Bohannon) he is the landlord of the property that my 20 year old autistic nephew lives. Steve has always been on top of the property and has answered any and every call I or my family has made about the property.
In no way do I consider him a "slumlord" Slumlord is a owner that does not keep his property in order, nor do I think it fair to ask for a boycott of a business because that owner has section 8 property, even worse is to bring that mans religion in to play as someone did on another topic.
Does Middletown have to much Section 8?? we all know the answer to that question, is it Bohannon's fault? No more than its my fault that we have pot holes on the streets I drive. It's the city's fault, theirs alone. Why not go down and ask Mr. Becker why he has set there all theses many years in different positions and voted to let this happen??

Randy what are you talking about?

Randy, I have not met you, but you clearly get in my opinion, over sensitive when you know someone involved in a matter. As you are making reference to me, let me state I know personally Mr. Bohannon very well. I know precisely where he lives and know his activity in the community. My reference was when those who have friendships are involved in Section 8, and others are positions of power, they will not make significant changes.
I did not seek a boycott, nor would it have any effect. How foolish. There are many landlords. Further, he is well known in the community, and actually pu the roof on the Senior Citizens Ctr building, and never would have to fear a boycott impacting his business.
Frankly, your defense sounds like a friend of Nancy Pelosi saying how nice she is. I have never been outspoken about Section 8, and its consumption will not change in city hall. Your defense proves the point I wasmaking: familarity breeds satisfaction and a desire to support those who make the request. I understood the issue to be there needed to be a REDUCTION in section 8 because of its scoio-economic impact. As for Mr. Bohannon, and suggestions made, I did not and would nopt support a boycott (and it woukd have no effect anyway), just as all the posts and studies are going to have no effect on reducing section 8 in Middletown. That was my point.

ok, Well acclaro, I was not talking about you when mentioning the boycott, (Posted by Bill) "I think Mr. Bohannon's roofing business should be boycotted. He and other landlords like him and feeding the Section 8 beast."
But, you did you did mention Bohannons religion " Mr. Bohannon is a strong catholic and tied to the movers and shakers. I mean that in no disrespectful manner, but he is in on 8 as are many others, because the $$$ are simply too good." Now, explain to me what one thing has to do with the other? He is a Catholic..so what !!
You can call me overly sensitive all you like, the plain truth is Section 8 is killing Middletown, we all know that. And for the record I never said Steve and I were friends, I said he was a good landlord that takes care of his Section 8 properties. Where I do agree with you is about the friendships involved here and because of that nothing will change. The other reason things wont change is because people keep voting in the someones that drove us here.
You are right about one thing, you have not meet me nor do you know me, there is not one city official or person of stature in this town that I am friends with. I speak my mind when I want and where I want any time I want.
Furthermore, if you know anything about section 8 you would know that it is not the landlords that are the problem. It is the fault of some city council members past and present that have let it get this way. When do plan on holding them accountable??

Randy, as for your comment about it not being the landlords fault, that might be true, but I know one in particular whom is a former police officer and a Police Chief in a neighboring county, that the buiding is run down, trashy, and on Charles Street, < than a minute's drive from the city building. So, the disgusting look and kack of care does come from some landlords, whom I believe you called slumlords.
As for the mistakes made by Bill Becker, others, I thnk they said they were aspiring to have the best managed program in Ohio. I doubt that will happen, but now what to do? I've heard and read about removing a city council member or two, read accusations about gas and license fee misappropriation, and yet have seen any action taken. Are you suggesting a recall petition? That's been floated for 4-5 months, and I don't see any action on that.
Of course the high % kills the city, but add that one to long list outstanding. As for Mr. Bohannon, I can simply state I know him to be a class act. I could say otherwise, but face it...section 8 in high numbers is here to stay and will spread in some of the nicer areas in town. Who is moving to Middletown?
