Taken from the March 7, 2010 Middletown City Managers Report:

I am pleased to report that the Bell Tower is in the process of being repaired and will soon be entertaining us. The inner workings of the carillon were damaged by a power surge last fall during a storm. The structure was a gift to the city in 1998 by the Casper family in memory of local attorney Jack Casper. The Casper Family wanted to encourage residents to congregate downtown and enjoy the music.
The Middletown Community Foundation generously awarded a grant in the amount of $21, 450 to accomplish the necessary repairs. The Verdin Company of Cincinnati will be providing the equipment to make the Carillon Bell Tower operable.

Did the Middletown Community Foundation donate money to the Pioneer Cemetery? I'm just curious.

I hear that Miss Vivian, her legal counsel and others will travel to Columbus on Wednesday to speak before the State of Ohio board that oversees cemeteries.

City of Middletown senior staff concurrently will report on their role and responsibilities in caring for the Middletown Pioneer Cemetery issues at hand.

I also hear that a grant application for a percentage of the cost of restoring the Historic Cemetery Vault was re-submitted to the Middletown Community Foundation.

Good luck Miss Vivian and kudos to you for standing up to Goliath.

They could have gone beyond and dug a little deeper to find a few coffers for the cemetery. Mike Presta, you are the cat's meow!
