I am challenging Mr. Laubach and Mr. Smith to start dialogue with the business owners of this town to discuss their issues and to investigate how the city can help in any way. The article in the Journal where Integrity Automotive is combining forces with Meineke (Phil and Pete) to save costs in this poor economy, sends a message to the city that businesses need help to survive. A city/business partnership needs to happen now to find solutions to prevent more businesses from going under. Kohler, Gilleland, Robinette and others have given no indication that it has reached a level of urgency on their part. To my knowledge, there hasn't been any action toward rectifying the problems of struggling businesses. You two gentlemen might as well start the ball rolling to find a solution since no one else seems to care on Council, nor in the city building. Start your council terms off right and take charge! Who cares if the rest of the current leaders are upset. Do what is right for the town and for it's people.

Vet what do you mean the city has a dialog with Businesses, at least some, if you are the right type.  If you are a Second hand Store come on down and tell us what you would like in the laws to help you and screw the Citizens over.

Hell if you are a Section 8 Landlord come on down and be on our committees and tell us what we can do for you while the city is destroyed.  We won't bother have any actual business owners on this committee as they would just get in the way.

You would think with all of the vacant strip centers there would be an effort to get some improvements from the land owners rather than go after the 80 year old retired grandmother to paint her gutters or porch.

What a City.

2010 isn't looking so good in Middletown.

Wasteful, Etc. -

What's the current status of the City's Housing Code Enforcement blitzkrieg that cited 2,300 property owners for violations in early 2009 ??

Other than infrequent "rah-rah" commentary offered by Miss Judy at City Council meetings last year, this bold, new, great, unbelievable, astounding, revolutionary, earth-shattering, "crack the whip" effort seems to be below the radar screen now !!

To use a phrase that a fellow concerned citizen who contributes on this blog would say:  "What a City ??"
