I heard a rumor that Mr. Kohler is no longer with the city, has anyone else heard this rumor? I was unable to confirm or deny this rumor. I made some calls and got no where, the only thing I found out is that he is on Vacation.

The rumor I heard goes like this, The city is getting ready to be sued over something Mr. Kohler has done. Because of that the city has let him go. That's all I heard, again I made some calls but got nothing.

Hope the current rumor is true. Would be good for the city as his damage to this city has been well documented. If true, that's one down, many to go. Will be interesting to see what scenario he has placed the city in for a lawsuit to occur.

He is not, (damn) out. He is on vacation along with Linda Tong zoning director who is out for surgery. We need to clean house from the city manager, Marty and Eco Development Director.

We have Kohler, the planning director and a zoning director also? Is the zoning department so large that it requires a director's position to run it? Could one person do both of these jobs, given the lack of activity in town? Hmmm. Might be another cut for Gilleland to help the city budget. Guess it would be interesting to review the entire job structure of this city government to see how many directors are "tucked away" out of the mainstream of publicity and how much money could be saved if this city would double up on director job duties.

Maybe he is down on Marathon Key, interviewing for the City Manager job?  Sorry to wish him on Marathon, but I hope he gets it!!!

jag, i find your comment about judy, marty, and mike interesting.  for us outsiders, what are the issues?  i know you mentioned issues with building improvements suggestions in a prior post, but are there other issues people should know about?  does council know about them?

I was told that Mr. Kohler was asked to resign or be fired. This is just the rumor I heard.

That would be nice, but he is a great friend of the city manager as is the eco director. It would be best for the city for a new start, her, marty and mike.

jag, have heard rumors about the personal friendships that exist.  that has to be a difficult working environment for others not in that circle.  hope that the friendships stay solid or that will impact work even more.

I have a relative who works there and she says that morale is at an all time low.

Mr.Kohler is very hard-working and knowledgeable. I would much rather see him change direction towards helping existing businesses other than AK and the Atrium though. I like the person--not his current direction.

Would probably hate to see him out, but if he holds current course or is in some mess, then it might be for the best.

Marty Kohler has done a great job in the city; unfortunately he is pulled down by short-sighted city councilmen.

I hope, for Middletown's sake, that he is around for many more years!

It is certain that something is going on, but it is not in Marathon Florida.  A quick trip to the website lists the 99 applicants, of which, he is not one.  No one will be less surprised, or more relieved than me, should their be any truth to his leaving.  I know of way more projects he has stopped, with his worse case thinking, than he has ever assisted........but, it is the morale and negative thinking at the City that kills us.  Instead of how can we help, it is more, what regulation can we enact to send businesses running.

city is in financial trouble, kohler being pulled down by the e.d. department and members of council, morale is at a low point.  doesn't sound like a good place to work so can we blame kohler for looking elsewhere if that is the case.  based on some of the comments, he may be a positive for the city but isn't being allowed to function by others.

I respectfully disagree with the Kohler supporters.  I believe that him being replaced by a realist with the citizenry's best interests at heart would be one of the best things that could happen to this city.
