Citizens of Middletown:

Let's not forget about that ominous document that surfaced a few months ago!!!

Is there such a group as "MOVING Middletown Forward", or was the heading on this document just a result of an overworked typist, rushing to finish a flyer in time for a closed meeting of "Middletown MOVING Forward, CIC"???

Once again, here is a scan of the document:
---------------------------------------------------------------------------

Moving Middletown Forward Committee

Suggestions for activities

• Recruit and train candidates for ward election in 2009

• Establish committees for various activities: fundraising, issues, campaign

strategy

Candidate assistance

• Workshop for selected candidates: public relations, speech coaching,

establish issues, raise funds ($3,000-$5,000 needed for competitive

campaigns for each and establish budgets)

Recruiting suggestions

• Search for candidates who have been active in their wards and have some

name recognition

• Set target fundraising for each candidate (1/2 support candidate, 1/2 from

committee through fundraisers)

Campaign suggestions

• Announce committee formation and its objectives, not giving away its

main goal of recruiting and quietly helping groom selected candidates and

making sure they get on the ballot before announcing campaign support

for the four candidates. Keep issues to a minimum and goals for

candidates. When recruiting, make sure candidates are on board

concerning objectives and issues.

Other goals

• Consider ballot issue which would change the makeup of City Council.

For example: Four wards and mayor, eliminating at large seats. Wards

only would make a more manageable and responsive Council.

• Consider future ballot issue which would make Butler County

Commission more responsive by adding two members and dividing

commission in what would essentially be wards.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------
Citizens, I ask you also to please recall an earlier post wherein I copied the following DIRECTLY from the MINUTES of the December 6, 2006 City Council meeting (here is the link: ( http://www.ci.middletown.oh.us/docs/council/12122006_m.pdf - http://www.ci.middletown.oh.us/docs/council/12122006_m.pdf  ):
On Page one, under "City Council Interviews", there was the following heading:

"City Council members asked predetermined questions that were mailed to the candidates in advance of the interviews. Each candidate answered the following questions:"

The last question on that page was:

"●The business community hopes that the Middletown City Council will continue to give top priority to and maintain the momentum for economic development through its CIC, Middletown Moving Forward.

How will you support keeping the economic development strategy, Middletown Moving Forward, in place and with high priority?"

This was a question that the council and city manager at that time (which included many members of "Middletown MOVING Forward", CIC) decided to asked every single candidate being interviewed for an APPOINTMENT by that body to fill an empty council seat.

Doesn't this sound very much like an attempt to find someone to match the stated goals of "MOVING Middletown Forward", if indeed we do happen to find that they are one and the same?

Fellow Middletonians, the elections are coming, and NO ONE in either the ADMISNISTRATION or in EITHER of the "MMF" organizations has come forward to clear up this confusion!!!  WHY NOT???

PLEASE remember this when you VOTE!!!

Sneaky little buggers aren't they? Sounds like their plan is underway with the Michel's petition to vote on eliminating the wards and the at large seats.(under other goals in Mike's post)and reducing council numbers. Michel's proposal makes him a foot soldier for the MMF based on this info, or, at the very least, helps their cause. MMF- Is it Moving Middletown Forward OR Manipulating Middletown Forever???? How about Manhandling Middletown's Future???? Just vote out all the incumbants and don't vote for the new candidates that espouse the MMF doctrine.(starting with Michel) That relegates their secret society and game plan to a failed afterthought. You voters can stop the MMF'ers at the polls.    Let's do it! Vote Nagy- Barge- Soppanish/Smith-Thoroughman- or Laubach. Picard may be an ally to the MMF'ers cause. After the election, perhaps we can take a look at the city manager on down and "clean out the deadwood".

While I would not be surprised if anything happened to "vanish" regarding this subject, I must be fair.  The city has revamped their web site since I originally made that post, and I simply copied it here--including the link.  Perhaps that is why it does not work, perhaps not.
