Water treatment staff steps up the pace when the weather gets hot! Due to the drought conditions, plant
operators fill all storage tanks and reservoirs to capacity each night to keep up with the daily demand for water that has exceeded 13.5 MGD. Additional booster pumps are operated as needed to maintain normal water levels at the water plant, reservoirs, and elevated storage towers. Any equipment failures during drought conditions can create supply problems but the maintenance staff at the water plant has been able to keep everything up and running via preventive maintenance and quick repairs when needed. The water level is lower than normal in the Great Miami Buried Valley Aquifer that supplies Middletown's production wells with water but so far this has not significantly affected well field water production.
