“Although he did not release numbers as to how much debt the Manchester Inn has incurred in the past few years, Fairchild indicated it was “substantial.”

Our City Manager stated she was not going to spend more than $500,000 for the buildings owned by the Thatcher Estate for Cincy State. She purchased all the other Thatcher buildings for $275,000 and now she needs to purchase the Manchester Inn and she only has $225,000 left.
Well I have heard that there is more than $225,000 in liens on the Manchester Inn. Soooo how will Judy solve this sticky little problem?

But the really big question is…Why didn’t Judy purchase the Manchester Inn first since that was the ONLY building that
Cincy State really wanted and needed?

Fellers we have been had again!

Glad they gave those 40 or so loyal employees plenty of notice."7:01... Get out! If you have vacation time, you'll get it, but that's it".  I know the rumor has been floating around for some time, but to shutter the doors with no formal notification and put those employees on the dole was a dirty move. Typical of the greedy, better than thou, crowd that continue to run this town into the ground. I would bet that there is some shady dealing and backroom glad-handing going on in this whole rotten barrel of fish.  Just my humble opinion. If the college wants it, let them do it ALL at market price and not use a single dime of city money.  To the city or any representing it that reads this: STAY OUT OF THE REAL ESTATE  OR BROKERAGE BUSINESS  and mind the store.

Hmm...It appears that now those "Manchester" signs fall under the terms of both the existing and the revisions proposed for tonight of the "abandoned sign ordinance"!!!  The clock started yesterday!!!  Only 89 more days and those Manchester signs must all be GONE!!!

Come to think of it, there are lots of other old, obsolete signs around this town that fall under this ordinance.  It seems as if the enforcement of this ordinance has been quite "selective".

“Cincinnati State plans to restore the hotel to it’s historical grandeur, but how long that will take once a project agreement is reached is unclear. Dan Cayse, vice president of the school’s strategic initiatives & entrepreneurial development, said its estimated the renovations will cost about $6.5 million

The City hasn’t even got a signed contract to purchase the property or a contract with Cincy State and now we are talking about $6.5 million in renovation cost.
I have not seen the blueprints of this major renovation project, but my guess would be 18 to 24 months to complete this job.
Sooo again I will ask the question…”Why did we rush to buy all the other buildings that Cincy State didn’t need only to put a greater drain on the city budget?
Sooo Judy please tell us how much it will cost the city each year to keep all these other buildings in mothballs on the hope that Cincy State may need them sometime in the future?
Ya just got to love the way these people think when it comes to business
but hey that doesn’t matter since the taxpayers will be footing the bill for this “Historic Grandeur”.

Mike
I don’t think you need to worry about the Manchester Inn sign since I’m sure that falls under “historic something” of Landen Law.Wink

Cayse said the school likely will focus on the ballroom, banqueting and dining side of the hotel if plans come to fruition. Whether any portion of the hotel would be open during renovations will depend upon project costs, he said.

The one thing of which Cayse said he was certain is that the hotel has become Cincinnati State’s primary focus for the project.

“We want to get the hotel back open and get the people of the community back in it,” he said.

If the Manchester Inn was the primary focus of this project, why did the City buy all the other downtown building first?

Vivian,
The story said that the Manchester Inn was Cincinnati State's primary focus.  The story didn't mention City Hall's primary focus!!!
