Maybe we should all just move to Franklin. Middletown will never be anything like it once was.

If we could find a way to get the dam people off the couch and to the voting place and find them some decent people to vote for that will listen to the people/have a completely different agenda/ competency/correct financial decisions/priorities, and tell the power brokers in town their influence is no longer valid, we could start the turnaround. I thought we were beginning this with Laubach, Smith and Scott-Jones, but it looks like they have been silenced. What a shame. It will take new people who don't care what the old guard has to say, with a backbone and can stand the pressure that would come from the long established power brokers, telling them to back off. It would be ugly until the old guard got the message. Phase 2 of the turnaround starts with the new council with the new people and the new attitude/direction, starting the termination process on the city manager, the law director, the econ. dev. director, the planning director, the section 8 program director, and others for incompetence on the job. Clean house on council- then clean house in the city building using council as the hatchet people. Only way, IMO. We can't seem to motivate people who are already pissed off and want something done (as long as someone else is doing it- they want to stay home, drink beer, complain a little, and watch NASCAR rather than organize against the city I guess) What a crock.

The Middletown Journal has a nice article about City Manager salaries in today's paper.  Worth a read.

Gilleland at $130,000, third highest on the list and in charge of one of the worst communities on the list as to how the town is run and the progress the town has made. Time to make a review of the city manager's salary council. Might be time to re-negotiate. How about that Springboro and Mason city manager salary, and look at their communities as to progress. Mercy.

It's funny how things get reversed, the worse employee always makes the more money.

And it takes a lot to fire a bad employee. A bad employee will almost always put up a fight and scream innocence. A good employee makes basic pay and usually just walks away when fired. Strange.......
