Today's Journal....

City may impose $150 fine for property nuisance issues
Middletown envisions a fund that would help clean up abandoned properties

Not mowing your lawn could cost you $150 and a day in court

At today’s City Council meeting, members will consider creating a mandatory $150 minor misdemeanor fine for nuisance violations. The funds — along with the work liens the city also would place on the property — would be placed into a new nuisance abatement fund. Middletown would then use this pot of money to clean up nuisances throughout the city, according to Adkins.

Will this also include city owned property that isn't kept up? And who will be providing a fair and unbiased application to this new fine as it applies to the city passing judgement on itself? Who will be going to court for the city on this and who's pocket, at the city building, will the $150 bucks be coming out of?

Vet,
We all know that the city won't be citing themselves.
Heck, they won't even be citing their friends!  This will be a tool to be used for political purposes, just as with advertising.

Why is the city advertising Weatherwax at the I-75/SR-122 and the I-75/ SR-63 interchanges but NOT at I-75/SR-122???  Because the 122 interchange is INSIDE the City of Middletown and signs visible from the interstate are ILLEGAL!!! Confused
“Mulligan said he ... doesn’t believe they necessarily make the return on investment necessary to keep funding them.” …The Middletown Journal, January 30, 2012

With a fine like that it sounds like the city is just a little hard up for a dollar.

In this depression to want to fine anyone that amount is mind boggling. If the city was doing their job they would have money coming in via business and taxes from jobs.
No more democrats no more republicans, vote Constitution Party !!
