Middletownusa participants; I will be holding an open meeting to discuss any issues important to Middletown citizens including but not limited to; Section 8 Housing, Downtown Development, Sutphin St. Project. I encourage all to attend if possible. I will be willing to answer any questions you have to the best of my ability and to give you my position on any issues of your concern. |

How'd it go Vivian, Mike, et al? Paper said you discussed Section 8 voucher reductions, clearer explanations of the budget and 2 million fund allocations. Anything else the Journal missed of any importance? Any other councilmembers show up? How about the mayor or city building people? Were the answers satisfactory or were they "partially-answered"?
Any idea as to timeline on when the city would see the reductions on the vouchers? Any clarification on the HUD funds sent to the city and the money allocations? Was Adkins there? Any explanation on the Sutphin St. delays? What is their take on all the empty stores in town, businesses leaving and plans to stop the bleeding on business loss/restock? Any questions on the downtown demolition and plans for "revitalization"? What about the "Duncan Oil" situation on Central? Any talk about the Pioneer Mausoleum rehab Vivian, or has that gone away as far as the city is concerned? Would be nice to see Gilleland, Carolus, Kohler, Robinette and others collectively have their own informal community gathering. Doubt if they would want to face the questions from the public in an informal setting with the questions not being pre-screened and them being put on the spot while facing a potentially hostile crowd. Probably feel they don't owe the people any of this. Why put themselves through it if the people don't have a "need to know", right? |

I was there, Vet.
My take on your ?s:
Mr.Picard and Mayor Mulligan also attended the meeting. They seemed very attentive and contributed when necessary.
Sparely attended, a few new faces.
Mostly Section 8 talk and Hud fund accounts and expenditures.
Nothing on Sutphin, business or other topics mentioned.
No cemetary or Duncan discussion.
Section 8 timeline is to go as planned--whether it happens that way remains to be seen.
Constructive, informative discussion--no one was "put on the spot".
We were all concerned citizens, with 4 attendees also members of Council.
Thanks to Ms.Scott Jones and Mr.Laubaugh, other Council members who attended, and those citizens present also. We are alli in this together, and united we will move forward much faster.

I was just at Sutphin St and they have the south side crubs all poured to the top of the hill. The north side crubs are almost completed and should be finished by this weekend. However none of the aprons have beed poured yet. I also believe we had a very constructive and informative discussion last night. Hot topics were NSP Funds and Section 8 reduction. A big Thanks You to Anita Scott Jones and Josh Laubaugh for taking time to meet with us. |
