Wednesday Mrs. Anita Scott Jones Mrs. Jones, I’m troubled by your statement last night at the City Council Meeting “Ms. Moon did some things that were somewhat out of turn”. (Out of turn - definition: 1. not in the proper order or sequence 2. in an inappropriate manner or at an inappropriate time) Ms. Jones, as far as I know I have done nothing “out of turn”. Every spring and fall for the past five years I and others have went out and purchased plants and other needed items for the Middletown Cemetery, turned in the receipts and been reimbursed from the Middletown Cemetery Fund. This has been the procedure for the past five years while both the Middletown Historical Society and the City of Middletown were acting as the fiscal agent for the Middletown Cemetery Funds. The Middletown Cemetery Committee did not give anyone from the City permission to purchase anything from the Middletown Cemetery Fund. We were not notified in writing of any changes in our original January 23, 2008 agreement when we placed these funds with the City of Middletown. I would only be guessing here but I would say that your "acting out of turn" is political jargon for "you stepped on toes".

What is the matter with these people? They're a vindictive little group of munchkins aren't they, from the city manager on down. Now, we have a Council person, who we had great hope for, acting like the rest of the problem children. Why are they so uncooperative in dealing with the citizens? Why don't they appreciate the effort that has been made to cover what they should have been doing in the first place? He--, if the subject is "out of turn" or "inappropriate", these people are the poster children on that topic. Enough with all of them! CLEAN HOUSE LEAVING NO INCUMBANT STANDING IN NOVEMBER!!!

On two different occasions late last summer I expressed concerns to a female City Council member about being systematically removed from any of my former responsibilities as Community Development Administrator for the City of Middletown. After each so-called private conversation, the new Community Revitalization Director (recently and suddenly retired in March of this year) chastized me for saying anything about my work situation to this female City Council member. I still have the wounds in my back where this elected official "stabbed" me. |

It seems as though all of Miss Scott Jones comments made about Miss Vivian Moon at last night's City Council meeting were not included in this morning's Middletown Journal story. Those of us who know Miss Vivian are disturbed that she would be characterized unfavorably by a City Council member.

Vivian,
Have you thought about doing a time frame of everything that has gone on regarding the cemetary and sending that to each council member as well as the city manager. Not saying that it would do any good - but what they say can be held against them considering you have filed reports on their lack of attention to the property they are supposed to requried to take care of.

What if we get up a petition drive by the citizens and DEMAND that council take care of this ? Just a thought.

I can't believe Ms. Jones would go there. She is an intelligent woman, yet she is ignorant about what would happen to the cemetary without the efforts of Middletown's good people like Vivian.
For shame to besmirch the good name of Ms. Moon. Why castigate one of such respect for our past? Perhaps Ms. Jones wants to volunteer a hundred or so of here hours to help instead of Mr. Moon. All talk and no action causes inaction by those who would do. |

I know this may sound a little strange coming from me but I will give Mrs. Anita Scott Jones 10 points for a least answering Tom Rapp's question.
THIS WAS A GOOD THING!
We will be having a petition drive for the cemetery to present to City Council. My complaint has now been filed with the State of Ohio and the City will now need to answer to them about the missing Middletown Cemetery Perpetual Care Fund, the condition of the vault and the grounds of the cemetery. We should know more in about 30 days. Thanks for your support. |

Who "owns" the small cemetery on South Verity Parkway Just SOUTH of LaFayette, across from Douglass Park???
As I was driving by there today, I noticed it was well maintained.

Who is the ward commisioner where the cemetary is located? If it is Scott-Jones maybe she should spend some time there herself like she does at the community center painting. I noticed when she was doing show and tell at one of the meetings, she had to clarify that one of the workers was not related to her. Why would this have been a problem anyway? also where did the money come from for that project?

The funding for the Community Center exterior improvements ($7,000 materials only grant) came from HUD Community Development Block Grant funds. $50,000 had been allocated for the Douglass Park Splash Pad but were not needed. By the way, Anita Scott Jones is an At-Large member of the City Council. And, Leslie Ford is the Ward Two member of the City Council in which the Community Center is located.

I wanted to know who is the ward person for the pioneer cemetary that Ms. Moon cares for? Where is their voice or opinion on this?

Katiebell The 11 acres of Middletown Cemetery is located in a notched out area of Ward 2 however it is located in Ward 1. See Ward Map. I'm not sure why the City did this ???

If you are looking for an opinion and a response, and if the Ward 2 rep is Leslie Ford, you will probably need to explain, in detail, what you require. She has given indications in the past few years that she is a "non-involved" participant on Council. You might want to wait until after November and she is gone and we have a "receptive" person sitting in the Ward 2 seat on Council.
